Our Visit to Madison, Indiana
In early October, we visited the river city of Madison, Indiana.
We had a wonderful view of the Ohio River from the balcony
of our hotel. There were many great wineries close by, which made
visiting several in one day very easy. We also had a wonderful
meal at the Key West Shrimp House...which I would recommend
to anyone. A visit to Madison, Indiana makes a great winery
adventure weekend.
Pictured below: Gary and I with our friends Tammy and
Linda at Chateau Pomije in Guilford, Indiana.

Where we're headed: Pennsylvania and New York
October 29, 2005 we will be visiting the following wineries:

Arrowhead Wine Cellars, North East, PA
Blueberry Sky Farm Winery, Ripley, NY
Heritage Wine Cellars, North East, PA
Mazza Vineyards, North East, PA
Penn Shore Winery, North East, PA
Schloss Doepken Winery, Ripley, NY

Watch the Winery Adventures website for upcoming reviews of these wineries.

What's new at the Winery Adventures website
Monthly wine recommendations from area wineries.
November is "Wines that pair well with Turkey".
Visit the Winery Adventures website to view our five

Also: We've been working very hard to make the Winery
Adventures website more user friendly. A lot of winery

Kinkead Ridge wine honored

The 2003 Kinkead Ridge Viognier/Roussanne blend is honored in the paperback
Wine Report 2006 by Tom Stevenson, British wine writer, as one of The 100
Most Exciting Wine Finds in the World, one of The Top Four New Up-and-Coming
Producers and one of the Top 10 Most Exciting or Unusual Wines in the Global
Report/Atlantic Northeast area. This wine is preferred over the French wine,
Domaine du Clovallon, known as "the best Viognier in the Midi".
The Wine Report 2006 has won the coveted "Best Wine Book in the World" in
2004 & 2005, Gourmand International Award. All of Kinkead Ridge wines are
made from grapes harvested in their ridgetop vineyard near Ripley, Ohio. They
recently harvested over 6000 pounds of Viognier and 4000 pounds of Roussanne
grapes for the 2005 vintage.

Casa Larga Vineyards earns high reviews
from beverage testing institute
On September 1, 2005, the Beverage Testing Institute posted high reviews for Casa
Larga Vineyards??™ 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon and Limited Release Meritage.
Earning 87 and 89 points respectively in this review of red wines, these two
hold their own against California and Washington competitors.

The Beverage Testing Institute, located in Chicago, Illinois, has been generating
impartial reviews of beer, wine, and spirits since 1981.  Each month a different
category is reviewed.  Unlike wine competitions, where characteristics of each wine
are compared to competitors, BTI professional tasters compare each wine to best
examples of its type in the universe of wines using a simplified scale that assess the
overall quality of the wine.

Casa Larga wines have won over 400 awards and have received numerous positive reviews
from the Beverage Testing Institute since the mid-1990s.  This month, both the Limited
Reserve Meritage and 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon scored in the ???Highly Recommended??? category.
Meritage is a balanced blend of three wines, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
The wine is medium bodied, with rich raspberry flavors, hints of chocolate and a cedar finish.  The
2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is rich with oak, berry, and mineral aromas.  It is full bodied, and
finishes dry.

Stop by Casa Larga Vineyards and Winery, in Fairport, NY to taste these exceptional wines. For
more information, call (585) 223-4210, or visit our website at www.casalarga.com

November 4 & 5

The tanks are full, the 2005 harvest is complete.  Come celebrate with the family owned boutique wineries along the Appalachian

Trail for their first ever fall trail event. Dates for this year are November 4-5 and 11-12 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.each day. Award

winning wine samples and hors d??™oeuvres will served by all seven wineries during those hours.

This year's trail gift begins with a very attractive insulated wine tote. At each winery, travelers will collect all the items needed to

fill the tote with the accoutrements needed for a 'mobile' wine tasting. Included will be two 8 ounce decorated wine glasses, two

restaurant quality napkins silk screened with the trail logo, a foil cutter, cork puller and decorative bottle neck hanger. The completed

tote will be perfect to carry to your next tailgate picnic - or to take along to a friend's home to watch a great football game. All that

will be needed to complete the package would be a bottle of wine from one or more of the wineries along the trail.

The seven participating wineries include: Flint Ridge Vineyards and Winery, Hopewell, Marietta Wine Cellars, Marietta, Raven's Glenn

Winery, West Lafayette, Shawnee Springs Winery, Coshocton, Slate Run Winery, Canal Winchester, Coffee Cake Winery, Hopedale

and Terra Cotta Vineyards, New Concord.

Come celebrate a successful harvest on a relaxing self-drive tour to your favorite wineries in and around the beautiful southeast Ohio. Advance

ticket sales only! Cost is $30 per couple or $25 per single traveler. Each ticket will entitle the adult travelers to sample wines and snacks.

Make reservations at www.OhioWines.org or call Ohio Wine Producers at 800-277-6972.
