Our recent visit to our
first Virginia wineries
We are so happy that we decided to expand our traveling area into
Virginia. Both of us were very impressed with the wineries that we
visited on our first trip. We sampled some very remarkable wines and the
views from the southwestern Virginia wineries were breathtaking. We
visited Fincastle Vineyard, Peaks of Otter Winery, White Rock Vineyard,
Hickory Hill Vineyards, Villa Appalaccia Winery and Chateau Morrisette
Winery. All of these wineries offered wonderful seating areas outside to
sip some wine and enjoy the scenery. We can hardly wait to make another
trip to Virginia to visit wineries in other regions of the state. Watch
the Winery Adventures website...we'll be posting reviews of the wineries
we visited in the next week or two. Pictured:
The view and the landscaping were so beautiful, we couldn't resist
staying for awhile at Villa Appalaccia Winery in Floyd, Virginia.

Summer
in Michigan...Time for a Wine Festival!
Warmer weather
brings outdoor wine festivals all across Michigan. From Blossom Days in
May, to Sunrise Side in July, to Paw Paw Wine and Harvest Festival in
September, there are festivals in every region, and for every taste.

Each festival has its own personality, but they all have two things in
common ... a great time and a chance to learn about good wine. Michigan's
wine festivals include food from local restaurants and often include music
and activities for children. It's easy to make a weekend mini-vacation by
combining a wine festival with golfing, a trip to the beach, amusement
park or other events.
Listed here
are a variety of wine festivals throughout the summer. For details and the
most up-to-date list of festivals and other events, visit the web site of
the Michigan Grape and Wine Industrial Council, www.michiganwines.com.
May 20-21 - Old Mission Peninsula Blossom Days
May 28 - Interlochen Wine, Food and Fine Arts Festival
June 3 - Ella Sharp Art and Wine Festival (Jackson)
June 10 - Leland Wine and Food Festival

The Michigan Grape and Wine Industry Council is a 10-member panel that
supports the growth of the grape and wine industry in Michigan. It is
housed in the Agriculture Development Division of the Michigan Department
of Agriculture, which is the official state agency charged with serving,
promoting and protecting the food, agriculture and agricultural economic
interests of the people of the state of Michigan.
