The Tasmanian snow gum, also called Mount Wellington peppermint, has been taken as far afield as Scotland where it thrives owing to its hardiness, tolerating salt air, drought and poor soil. The highly aromatic leaves yield gold and olive-green dyes, and like most eucalypts the tree is a source of the essential oil citronella. Oh, it burns very well too.
