Fighting The "Pack Rat"
Syndrome
=============================================================
Go through your house periodically, eliminating
items you no longer
want. One possible criteria: when you no
longer notice a decorative
object (such as a picture), it may be time to get
rid of it.
You might consider a trade-off system.
Whenever you add a new
item to the household inventory, discard an old
one.
Caution! Do not throw out someone else's things
unless they ask
you to do so. Suggest and encourage, but
don't take over. This
applies to your parents, spouse, and any children
over 4 years old.
Be ruthless with your own possessions. Discard
all unused junk. When
in doubt, throw it out. It takes up space,
and you'll just wind up
cleaning it and moving it around.

Key Questions When Cleaning A
Closet
==========================================
As you weed out a closet, consider each item
individually and ask
yourself: Have I used this item in the past
year? If the answer
is yes, it's worth keeping another year. If
No, discard it.
Does it have either sentimental or monetary value
to me? Yes?
Then keep it. Might come in handy
someday? If you answer yes
but have nothing specific in mind better put the
article into a
"throwaway" or "giveaway" box unless you have
ample attic or
basement storage space. A yes answer
usually means that
you're hanging onto clutter.
Thank you for joining us today and may you have a
wonderful day.
