Substitutes For Cleaning

Ammonia, diluted with 3 parts water in an empty
pump-spray bottle,
can be used instead of a commercial spray to
clean windows,
appliances, and countertops. Use
full-strength ammonia to
remove wax from floors or to clean the oven (not
really dirty
ones, however).
Caution: Always wear rubber gloves whenever
cleaning with an ammonia solution. Also,
when using it full
strength, make sure that the work area is well
ventilated.

An excellent substitute for metal cleaner to
scour copper and brass
objects is 1/2 cup vinegar mixed with 1
tablespoon of salt. Full-
strength pine oil makes quick work of cleaning
and deodorizing
garbage pails, bathroom and kitchen floors.
If you dilute the
pine oil, you won't have to rinse.
