Rugs and Carpets Can Be Freshened and The Colors Brightened

By washing the surface of the rugs with a solution of alum and water,

or a solution made of baking soda and water. Use a coarse heavy

cloth or brush to do the work, and be sure to do the work quickly.

Rub lightly over the surface of the rugs, making sure that much of the

solution is wrung from the cloth you're using or shaken from the brush.

Do not let the rugs become wet.
