In this week's issue - I'm back!

It's been a while since I sent my last newsletter. I'm a victim of my own success and I fell back into my workaholic pattern. My business literally went through the roof when I started practicing what I preach and I was overwhelmed with work.

So how did I build up my business to the point of overwhelm? I wrote "how to" articles and posted them on the internet. People found the articles, went to my website for more information then hired me to help them with their website and web marketing.. My teleclasses were getting very popular and my newsletter was appearing on many other websites across the internet. Business was booming.

Sounds great doesn't it? At first I thought so but soon I was overwhelmed with work. Instead of working with only my ideal clients, I was saying yes to anyone and everyone that called because my business struggled for years after the dot com bust. Soon, I felt like I wasn't doing an excellent job for my clients and I totally lost focus. I was working between 10 and 12 hours a day and often 7 days a week. I left the corporate world almost 10 years ago because I didn't want a life of all work and no play. And here I was right back in my old pattern of working too much and not enjoying life.

In March I took a few days off and attended the Dan Kennedy Superconference in Chicago . It was great to get away even though the daily sessions started at 8 AM and ran until midnight some days. The energy at the conference was incredible, the speakers were fantastic as usual, and the long days flew by. I realized that I needed to refocus my business and work smarter not harder.

After returning from Chicago , I spent the next week in Sedona , Arizona on vacation with my family. If you've never been to Sedona, go there as soon as you can because it's unbelievable. We spent the week doing yoga every morning, hiking, hanging out by the pool, getting massages, and exploring the beautiful Verde Valley . It just doesn't get any better than that.

While I was in Sedona, I remembered that part of my dream life is building a virtual business that I can run from anywhere, just like I was doing in Sedona. I want to travel whenever I want, go snowboarding, go to the beach, go hiking or whatever I want on my schedule. My business was heading in that direction but I lost focus and fell back into working with my "less than perfect" clients that were demanding too much of my time and not paying me what my services are worth.

Since I returned from Sedona, I've been rethinking my business. I'm going to be changing directions a bit and becoming more focused. I'm going to be offering more services that will help you grow your business. My new direction is still evolving and I'll be sharing my ideas with you in the next newsletter.
