Investor Highlights
-
Recently announced that its new
state-of-the-art solar cell manufacturing plant is ahead of schedule, within
budget and expected to begin production in the 4th quarter of '06.
- Projected production
capacity for the Shanghai-based facility is estimated at an output of
20 megawatts per production line, the strategic plan is to have the
initial 20 megawatts in production by fourth quarter of this year. The
Company currently estimates that each 10 megawatts of production
translates into roughly $37.5 million in annual revenue.
- Executed a Memorandum of
Understanding ("MOU") regarding a joint venture to acquire a
15% interest in a silicon processing operation in the Inner Mongolia
Autonomous Region and further secure a supply of solar grade silicon
feedstock.
- Executed a Letter of
Intent ("LOI") with PAIS Industries Group ("PAIS")
whereby PAIS Industries would supply the Company with 1,200 metric
tons of solar grade silicon ingots for a duration of three years.
- Recently announced that
it has successfully achieved favored tax status by meeting the
regulatory criteria developed by the Government of China designed for
locally based environmental high-technology enterprises.
- The solar power market
is growing rapidly, increasing 55% last year to $11.2 billion and
estimated to reach $51.1 billion by 2015.
- For the first time in
modern history, clean energy technologies are becoming
cost-competitive with their 'dirtier' counterparts. Oil and natural
gas prices remain stubbornly high and frustratingly volatile across
the globe.
-
SOEN plans to launch a
joint R&D lab with Shanghai University in 2006, which will enable
the Company to produce solar cells with improved conversion
efficiency.
-
Strong management team
with technical expertise to capitalize on the great global demand for
solar energy.
-
Has formed a strategic
relationship with InfoTech Energy Efficiency, a US-based power system
supply firm that manufactures components in America and successfully
exports the products to China.
-
Pure
Play Opportunity. Solar EnerTech exclusively operates in the emerging
solar energy sector, one of today’s promising sources of renewable
energy.
-
With
the current global oil crisis looming, the development of solar energy
as an alternative fuel source is a growing area of investment in the
United States and several foreign countries.
-
Governmental
Sponsorship. Governing bodies in Europe, China, and several U.S.
states fully support solar power as an alternative energy source with
policies, programs, and incentives provided for its usage to
businesses and consumers.
-
The
photovoltaic solar industry now generates over $3-4 billion globally,
including the sale and installation of solar energy systems; industry
projections forecast revenues to reach $9.9 billion by 2006 and $18.6
billion by 2010.
Overview
Solar EnerTech
Corporation (SOEN) is a photovoltaic (PV) solar energy cell
manufacturing enterprise based in Shanghai, China, where the Company is
establishing a sophisticated 42,000 square foot manufacturing and research
facility in Shanghai's Jinqiao Modern Science and Technology Park. Solar
EnerTech plans to invest in PV cell research to develop higher efficiency
cells and put the results of that research to use immediately in its
manufacturing processes.
Led by one of the industry's top scientists
and a strong management team, the Company's R&D program will work to
bring Solar EnerTech to the forefront of advanced solar technology research
and production. The Company has also established a marketing, purchasing and
distribution arm in Northern California's Silicon Valley.
Demand for solar electric energy has
consistently grown by 20-25% per year over the past 20 years. World solar PV
market installations reached a record high of 1,460 megawatts in 2005,
representing annual growth of 34%. Worldwide the solar PV industry generated
approximately $6.5 billion in revenue in 2004 and is expected to reach $9.9
billion in 2006 and $18.6 billion in 2010. This growth has occurred against
a backdrop of rapidly declining costs and prices due to increased efficiency
of solar cells and improvements in manufacturing technology.
In a time of skyrocketing fuel costs and
increased pollution from fossil fuels, solar energy is receiving renewed
government, business and homeowner support as a viable alternative energy
source. SOEN recently sponsored the Energy Round Table in Beijing with
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and established consensus with
the California government for future involvement with California's solar
programs.
