Welcome to the new Portico Newsletter!

Humanism
Chris Larsen

Humanism: the doctrine emphasizing a person's capacity for self-realization through reason; rejects religion and the supernatural.
The idea of Humanism is that it is about me, my needs and wants and cares and hruts. The problem is that Humanism takes the Creator out of the center of the Universe and replaces it with the created. We see this take place in our schools with the removal of prayer and the ten commandments and replacing them with self help and "you can rise to greatness". (Chris's message will be available on CD this thrusday night)

Prepare for our NEW Lakewood location!!!

""John 13:14 " So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet,
you also ought to wash one another's feet".

God is taking the prayer partner ministry to a new level. Do you want to
be a part? Prayerfully consider applying for the prayer ministry as we

Who's going to be visiting the Portico?
Dr. David Capes- on The Bible

Dr. David Capes serves as Chair of the Department of Christianity and Philosophy at Houston Baptist University .

The Word of God? It was written over thousands of years and then written and rewritten. Do we really today have what God wanted us to read? How did we end up with 66 books in the Bible? Didn't the Apostle Peter write a gospel; how come it did not make it?
Come join us May 12th as we get a understanding of the Bible.
Dr. Capes is a professor at Houston Baptist University. Dr. Capes serves as Chair of the Department of Christianity and Philosophy and teaches courses on Christian Scriptures and Greek.
