Technologically Dependant Recently, our cable TV and Internet service went down twice. I tried to get the Internet working with a telephone call, but the company said they weren't receiving a signal. What was the problem? The modem.
My laptop was repaired and I haven't had a chance to reinstall my wireless network and other software programs that I didn't know would be wiped out. If there is a next time, heaven forbid, I will reconsider the question "Are you sure you don't want us to backup your system for $70?" Cell Phone My husband's cell phone stopped ringing for incoming calls.
He went to 2 different wireless stores and said they all wanted to make money off us by selling us products and services. He wanted to switch providers, and I tried to explain that we would incur more costs doing that because we're already on a family plan. Also, I suggested that the companies are in business to make money by selling us products and services. Gee whiz! Even I'm trying to do that with www.LinorStore.com.
Realizing that I'm an email addict, I chose to make some small changes. Being limited to one desktop computer in the upstairs office has made me more aware of budgeting my time and doing first things first: 1.
I've organized some files and pitched unnecessary papers to make room for the record albums (yes, LPs) that were sitting on the stairs for a few months. 2. I've washed the dishes and floors, folded laundry and put it in the closets (that's a big step for me) and steam cleaned the bathrooms. 3. The dining room table, instead of being the laptop's home for reading emails is my Jewelry Design Center and I've finished 5 pieces this weekend. 4. John and I have had actual conversations.
As everyone knows, it's tough to balance work, home, volunteer activities and a small business. I believe my Higher Power sent me a message to get off the computer and still be productive.
Technology is a tool to help us, but when my computer was down, I wrote articles using
paper and a pen. I took some down time to finish a book and magazine articles. I watched TV and took a nap.
