I’m looking forward to a more serene week. Last week was like a whirling dervish. However, this weekend was a great excuse to slow down, relax, read and do only priority items.

January Birthstone: Garnet
Red: passion, grounding (1st chakra)
The most well known is Almandine, the rich red colored stone.  Other types include Demantoid (green), Hessonite (yellowish to brown), Pyrope (red – purple), Rhodolite (pink – lavender), Spessartite (orange – red) and Tsavorite (green), which is one of the rarest and most valuable of all garnets.  Garnets have been used since ancient times as talismans; some cultures believed the stones’ luminosity provided protection from evil and danger. Garnets are mainly mined in Africa, but they can also be found in India, Russia and South America.

Garnets are known for increasing success in business (use 3 stones on your desk).
Healing Properties: Associated with the thyroid and spleen. It helps cleanse and purify both when held over those areas. The Garnet is usually held in the hand or placed on top of the head when searching or meditating on past lives. Information that is beneficial and helpful will usually be released for the searcher.
