Dear Subscriber, The Feb. 10 Jewelry and Chocolate Show is cancelled due to the snow storms in the Elgin area. It's too difficult to ask people to travel over the weekend when you've all been commuting longer hours during the week. I'll let you know the new date for the home show. The good news is that I will honor show pricing for my unique hand crafted gemstone and glass jewelry and Katie's Old Fashioned orders if you pick them up. All you need to do is call or email me with your order. Taxes: If you're working on your taxes, Comcast News (Kiplinger's) reports that these are the most overlooked deductions: 1. State sales tax paid for purchases (I'm not sure this is still valid in IL) for large purchased items like boats, cars, etc. 2. Reinvested dividends (e.g., if you have mutual funds dividends automatically invested in new shares) 3. Out of pocket charitable expenses (postage, mileage is 14 cents per mile. Believe receipts are needed for all in 2008. 4. Student loan interest parents paid. 5. Moving expenses for taking first job more than 50 miles away. 6. Military reservists’ travel expenses. 7. Child care credit. 8. Estate tax from inheritance. 9. State tax paid last April. 10. Refinancing points (over the period of the loan, e.g., 30 years) 11. Jury duty pay given to employer.
