Oh last night I had to work and when I got to my car I saw that I had like a gazillion missed calls on my cell phone and they were all from my sister's house. So I called and Cortlynn~my 6 year old answered and was so excited....she found a kitten and wanted to know if I would mind if she brought it home with her. OMG she sounded so sweet and innoncent and well I am a big SUCKER so of course I said yes. She was so worried that the kitten would be homeless. She is so compassionate towards animals. So needless to say we are going to have a new addition to our family. Well I have about a hundred and one things to do today....I still need to go to the grocery! Lemonade Base Makes about 5 cups lemonade base. For full-flavored old-fashioned lemonade, stir ?? cup of the base and ?? cup cold water together in a tall glass. Serve with ice cubes. 2- ?? cups water 1- ?? cups sugar ?? teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel 1- ?? cups lemon juice For sugar syrup, in a medium saucepan heat and stir water and sugar over medium heat till sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and cool about 20 minutes. Add lemon peel and lemon juice to the sugar syrup. Pour into a jar, cover, and chill. Store lemonade base in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Use to make Lemon Sherbet Float, Strawberry-Lemonade Slush, or Tropical Lemon Iced Tea. Lemon Sherbet Float Makes 1 serving. Lemon sherbet reinforces the flavor of the lemonade base and adds sweet frostiness. 1 or 2 scoops lemon sherbet ?? cup Make-Ahead Lemonade Base ?? cup carbonated water Raspberries or Blueberries (optional) Scoop lemon sherbet into a tall glass. Pour Lemonade Base and carbonated water over the sherbet. Garnish with raspberries or blueberries, if desired. Strawberry-Lemonade Slush Makes 1 serving. ?? cup fresh or frozen unsweetened strawberries 1/3 cup Make-Ahead Lemonade Base 1 Tbsp. sugar 1 cup ice cubes Fresh strawberry half (optional) In a blender container combine the ?? cup strawberries, Lemonade Base, and sugar. Blend till smooth. With blender running, add ice cubes, one at a time, through opening in lid till strawberry mixture becomes slushy. Pour into a tall glass. If desired, garnish slush with a fresh strawberry half. Serve immediately. Tropical Lemon Iced Tea Makes 1 serving. A jiffy treat with Make-Ahead Lemonade Base and off-the-shelf ingredients. ?? cup Make-Ahead Lemonade Base ?? cup orange juice 2 tsp. instant tea powder Ice ?? of a 12-ounce can lemon-lime carbonated beverage Orange or lemon wedge (optional) In a tall glass combine Make-Ahead Lemonade Base, orange juice, and tea powder. Add some ice and the lemon-lime carbonated beverage. While that is drying, practice the daisies with the No. 12 flat brush. Then paint on pot as follows: Yellow daisies: Doubleload Wicker White and School Bus Yellow. Pounce the centers with Scruffy Brush doubleloaded with Pure Orange and School Bus Yellow. Add dots around centers with Lemon Custard Dimensional paint. Magenta daisies: Doubleload Magenta and a touch of Wicker White. Pounce the centers with Scruffy Brush doubleloaded with School Bus Yellow and Wicker White. Make swirl in center with White Dimensional paint. White daisies: Paint white daisies with Wicker White only. Pounce centers with Scruffy Brush loaded with Pure Orange. Outline the petals and add dots to centers with Wicker White Dimensional paint. Plaque Instructions: Mix Wicker White and School Bus yellow until you have a nice soft yellow. Basecoat plaque. Add some Fresh Foliage to that mix and paint the edge of the plaque. Let dry. Paint daisies using the No. 12 flat brush to cover plaque as follows: White daisies: Use Wicker White only. Pounce centers with Scruffy Brush doubleloaded with School Bus yellow and a touch of Fresh Foliage. Add some Wicker White to highlight. Outline with Wicker White Dimensional paint. Pink daisies: Doubleload Wicker White and Magenta. Pounce centers the same as the white daisies. Write FRIENDS or other message with Fresh Foliage Dimensional paint.
