First of all I just want to apologize for not sending out a letter until now. With everything that has happened I really just have not had the time. Plus I have not been feeling well for the last couple of days. As many of you have seen on the news our city had a tornado come thru early Sunday morning. I was actually up working on the message board and site when I heard the sirens and the alert of a severe thunderstorm warning. I starting watching the weather man and he was saying that there was some rotation detected on the doppler in KY. And then it just got worse he was urging people to wake up their neighbors and to take shelter. I have lived in Evansville my entire life and we have had many storms and I pretty much have always ignored the alert because those sirens are always going off...but not in November. Initially they were tracking the storm to hit over on the west side of town and then they changed it right to our area. I just felt like this would be bad and rushed to my Mom's~she lives two houses down~to wake her up and then came back home to get Aidan and Dale. The tornado passed just about a mile and a half south of us and east of us. I seriously have NEVER been so scared before in my entire life and it just broke my heart at how terrified Cortlynn and Brianna were. We all took shelter just waiting and then lost power...we heard the rain and in no time at all the rain stopped and all you could hear were sirens. They were responding to the mobile home park just south of us. I am so thankful that our family is safe and our house is safe and yet so sad at the loss of life and total devastion that has occured to so many people. It is just heart wrenching. To see the coverage on TV is just horrid and to see it in person is just sickening. There is debris covering fields and in trees for miles. To know that little innoncent children lost their lives is crushing. The weekend has been one of so much emotion and heart ache. We did get our power back about 7 hours after the storm and when we first saw the devastion in the daylight I was just overwhelmed with emotion. Please keep those who have lost everything in your thoughts and prayers. 18 people died in our county and 5 in the county next to us. They are still searching thru the mobile home park and many are still looking for their loved ones. Mothers are in critical condition not knowing that their children were taken. It is just absolutely devasting and so sad. To make matters worse we are forcasted to get another round of storms Tuesday and Weds hopefully things will not be as bad. I do want to thank all of you that have emailed me worried and it was so nice to hear from some old internet friends. Thank you for your thoughts and just caring. Choose tag sizes as shown in the photo. Choose six coordinating papers to cover the tags. Trace the tag shape on the back of each paper, and then cut out. Apply Liquid Laminate to the back of the paper, and then apply the paper to the tag. Smooth out any air bubbles with your hand, then let the tag dry. Sand any rough edges on the tray, then paint it Yellow Ochre, or the color of your choice. Let dry. Select a speckled background paper to coordinate with your painted tray, and then cut paper to fit the bottom of the tray. Apply Liquid Laminate to the tray, and then carefully apply the background paper. Smooth out any air bubbles with your hand as you apply the paper. Let dry. Arrange the tags on the tray for placement and then lift and embellish one tag at a time. Use Gem-Tac to apply paper embellishments, and hot glue to apply dimensional embellishments. Replace the embellished tag on tray, then hot glue it in place. For the large tag, hot glue a silk sunflower, autumn leaves and a jute bow on the tag. For another tag, glue Alpha Tags to spell "FALL" on the tag. Glue a silver eyelet in the tag hole. Decorate one tag with leaf buttons. Decorate one tag with a preserved leaf. Wrap the tag with wire, adding a few Green glass beads to the wire. Glue a silver eyelet in the tag hole. Decorate two small paper tags with dried flowers. Hang the tags by Brown floss from a 2-inch piece of twig. Cut a "Grow" definition from text paper, or create a journaling block on ivory cardstock, then glue it to the tag. Create a rubber stamped polymer clay medallion for the last tag on Black polymer clay with your choice of rubber stamp. Press stamp into flattened clay about 1/8-inch thick. Trim away excess clay and bake following manufacturer's instructions. When clay is cool, antique design with Toffee paint. Wipe away excess paint. Trim shanks from three buttons. Glue medallion and buttons on tag. Glue a silver eyelet in the tag hole. Add a saw tooth hanger to the back of the tray to hang. Optional: This project is a great way to use up odds and ends of buttons, paper, beads and other embellishments.
