Wow can you believe that Christmas is over? All that hype and preparation and now all that is left is toys toys toys everywhere and the dreadful chore of taking down all the decorations. I never have liked taking down the decorations....don't mind putting them up but blah on cleaning all this up. We had a really great Christmas. The kids loved all their gifts. I just loved seeing their face when they open up something and are so excited over it. Aidan was so cute because this was really the first year that he totally understood what was going on. It was nice. I hope you all had a great Christmas as well. Oh now we must face the new year and our resolutions. I was thinking about some just last night! Hopefully I will be able to last longer with them than in previous years. lol Well I must be off because unfortunate for me I have to make a trip to the mall to return some things for my Mother. eeek! Have fun and enjoy! http://snipurl.com/h9e0 AOL ~~~Laura's Recipe of the Day!!~~~ ~*^:: Sour Dough Starter and Breads ::^*~ 1/2 cup instant potato flakes 2 cups warm water 1/2 cup sugar 2 teaspoons salt 1 package yeast Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup of warm water. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Keep at room temperature for 24 hours. Put into refrigerator until ready to use. Take out and feed with the following: 1/4 cup sugar 3 Tablespoons instant potato flakes 1 cup warm water Mix well and add to starter. Let stand out of refrigerator all day. (8 to 12 hours) Mixture will be bubbly. Take out one cup to make bread and return remainder to refrigerator. Keep in refrigerator three to five days and feed again. If not making bread after feeding starter, throw away one cup or give to a friend. This is to avoid deflating your starter. Sour Dough Bread 1/4 cup sugar 1 Tablespoon salt 1/2 cup corn oil 1 cup starter 1 1/2 cups warm water 6 cups bread flour In large bowl, mix the ingredients and make a stiff batter. Grease another large bowl, put in dough and turn over (oily side on top). Cover with foil and let stand overnight. Do not refrigerate. Next morning punch down dough and knead a little. Divide into three equal parts and knead each part on a floured surface eight to ten times. Put into three greased loaf pans and brush with oil. Cover with waxed paper. Let rise four to five hours--or all day. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your oven. Remove and brush with butter. Cool on rack. Wrap and store well in refrigerator. Bread may be frozen. Decoupage is simple and fun. You can find books from the library describing the technique and ideas. Basically, you cut out the picture you like, use decoupage glue to adhere it to wood, glass, ceramics or cardboard and then seal it with the glue. You can decoupage furniture, glass plates or vases, homemade clocks, picture frames, serving trays, etc. The possibilities are endless. Make a special Christmas vase, or decoupage a Christmas stepladder for hanging ornaments on the tree. Decoupage a set of glass plates or a candy dish. Decoupage some sturdy cardboard boxes and re-use them every year for enclosing gifts.
