Why Supplement?

Information from the U.S. Department of Agriculture reflects
that it would require as many as 75 servings of spinach
(my favorite!)grown today to deliver the same amount of iron
in one serving of spinach grown in 1948.

I DO like spinach, but not that much!

Also, consider that Recommended Daily Allowances (RDA) only
direct you to get enough of any nutrient to prevent you from
developing a nutritional deficiency disease, such as
Rickets. That isn't the same as directing you to take as
much as you need to keep you in optimum health.

In addition, one size does NOT fit all. Many health
conditions, age, gender,  and other variables may determine
what your nutritional needs are. They can change on a daily
basis. Are a nursing mother's requirements the same as those
of an 80 year old man? Not likely.

Nutritional supplements are most definitely a little
insurance to protect, maintain, and enhance your optimum
level of health. However, all supplements are not created
equally. It will do you little good to go to the local
discount store and purchase the weekly special they are
running in order to get rid of 2 year old stock that may not
have been easily used by the body, even when it was fresh.
You want supplements that are of high quality, and easily
absorbed and used by your body. You want supplements that
have been researched, tested, and proven to be effective.

Supplementation has been known to

    Assist with Weight Loss
    Improve Quality of Sleep
    Decrease Mood Swings
    Increase Mental Clarity
    Improve Learning Ability
    Reduce or Eliminate Some Affects of Chronic Disease

I am on this diet and I have lost 15 pounds so far. To me
that is great results, all I have to do is look at food and
I gain weight. I am wanting to change the way I eat for the
better. I actually started 16 years ago when I had lung
cancer and had my right lung removed along with 4 or 5
lymphoid's. That was enough right there for me to change the
way I was eating and quite smoking. The first phase that
lasted two weeks was the hardest, however after the first
week it was easier for me.

The first week I ate everything it had listed for each day;
I was stuffed. Then the second week all that food was too
much so I ate what I could. They only way you are going to
lose weight if you do it for yourself, your health and you
have to be ready to do it. Just thought I would let you know
how I felt about this new diet.

I will be checking out the other new weight loss book by
Doctor Phil. I saw him on his talk show, isn't he great?

Now's the time to stock up on your vitamins, cold medicines
and cough drops. I also stock up on my Barley Green which
has enzymes to build my immune system and much more. I
wouldn't' be without it. I order my vitamins from Puritan
when they have their buy one get 2 free. So I am stocked for
the winter.

Dreadful winter, I don't like the cold and it doesn't like
me. My doctor recommended that I get the flu and ammonia
shot as he does every year and every year I say no. I just
don't like putting all those germs in my body. I take enough
medicines as it is.

My Doctor said that there is a new flu that will be coming
in this winter and it is really a bad one. Hmmmm did I fall
for that? Well, I got my flu shot and ammonia anyway, you
never know. I have been lucky in not getting the flu. I hope
you get prepared for the winter. Then when you do get sick,
you'll be glad you did.

Weight Loss Tip of the Month

Instead of excersing for an hour, you can lose more weight
by splitting up your routine exercise into 15 - 20 minutes
three or four times a day.

When excersing remember to do your stretches to warm up
your muscles to avoid damage.

Recipe of the Month

Cranberry Desert

2 small packages of raspberry jello
2 cups hot water
1 cup sour cream
1 can cranberry jellied
1 cup chopped pecans

Mix cranberry sauce with 1-cup hot water in mixer until it
is liquid and smooth.

Then do the jello separate. Mix 1-cup boiling water and
jello. Add cranberry mixture.

Chop pecans fine and mix everything together and put half of
the mixture in an 8 inch square dish that has been sprayed
with a cooking spray - chill till firm.

Spread the sour cream them pour the remaining half of
mixture over it. Chill till firm.

** This is very good, I could eat the whole thing. The funny
part is I don't like cranberries but I love this desert.
