OUR FEATURE ARTICLE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is Low-Carb Really The Way To Go? - Part II
A recent study done by French and Canadian researchers found
that consuming carbohydrates in small amounts did NOT
inhibit fat burning and only approximately 4% of it was
stored as fat.  This was in individuals who were not
exercising.
They also assessed the effect of carbohydrates in
individuals who performed light to moderate intensity
exercise and found that the small carbohydrate meal resulted
in no fat being stored and did NOT inhibit fat burning. Plus
even the large carbohydrate meal had NO effect on fat
burning and all of it went directly to the muscles to
replenish glycogen and repair tissue.
Just imagine what happens when you do a hard workout!
So what does this mean in plain English?  Basically, carbs
are fine in small to moderate amounts (even if you don't
exercise) and on days you do exercise, the carbs are going
to be stored in the muscles and not as fat.
So to all those people out there who think that eating carbs
will result in them being stored as fat and it `shutting
off; the fat burning, I've got good news for you??¦..
You can finally have that big bowl of spaghetti and
meatballs you've been craving!
So how can you apply this to your eating and fitness
program?  Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
1. You need carbs - just the right amount and the right type
So what are the right types? Focus on eating carbs that are
high in fiber such as vegetables, beans, fruits, and whole
grains.
2. Vary the amount of carbs you have based on how active you
are
For example - on days you don't exercise, eat less carbs and
maybe vary the types.
3. The one time you can go carb crazy is right after you
exercise
For example - if you want to cheat and have ice cream the
best time would be right after a hard workout.
Focus on eating balanced - carbs, proteins and fats; and
again, adjust the amount of each based on how active you are
and plan to be.
I also recommend you do so research yourself and learn as
much as you can about human metabolism and sound nutrition.
Tidbits for this Month
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Deep breathing is essential for health. If you are
breathing correctly - for five minutes, five times a day,
your shoulders will stay relaxed as you inhale. Your abdomen
will swell on the inhale, and collapse on the exhale (using
your diaphragm muscle).

2. Try listening to inspirational music during your breathing
to help foster positive thoughts.

3. Eat healthy 90% of the time but remember to treat
yourself. Depriving yourself never works.

4. Blood stains on clothes?  Not to worry! Just pour a little
peroxide on a cloth and proceed to wipe off every drop of
blood. Works every time!

5. Crayon marks on walls? This worked wonderfully! A damp
rag, dipped in baking soda. Comes off with little effort
(elbow grease that is!).

6. Candles will last a lot longer if placed in the freezer
for at least 3 hours prior to burning.

:(Nothing new for the Readers Corner. Send in your
comments, hints or tips and we'll place your ad free in the
our ANew Weight Loss Headquarters, ads with tidbits!

Hey, we had to bribe you guys some way. :) Here is what Lisa
had to say last month. You can change it by sending in yours!

Durard, Pam and Shannon!

I'm a new reader and I just wanted to let you know that my
first issue I received of ANew Weight Loss was awesome!!
The article, "Does Excess Protein Turn to Fat? An Anatomy
Lesson" by Maia Appleby was very interesting, as I guess I
never thought about what happens to what we eat.  The
Mississippi Mud Cake recipe is excellent; I've eaten it
before.  Oh, and your freebies section with the tips was
terrific!  I never knew Dawn dishwashing liquid would do
that!  Live and learn:) Anyway, great issue!

Thanks for all you do!

Warmest regards,

First thing we need to do is apologize for getting your ezine
to you a day late. It's tax season and whoops I am behind, so
before I realized it I was late in getting this ezine all
together to be published.

On that note we also wanted to let you in on our newest ezine
called ANew Weight Loss Headquarters. We didn't want to crowd
our monthly ezine with ads. Plus with the demand of people
wanting to advertise we came up with the idea of having a
ezine that will have ads with tidbits instead of articles.

That way we can keep it informative and interesting enough to
read and have all the ads in one place.

Here is some information for about our newest ezine:

Ad placement with tidbits instead of articles in-between ads.
Tidbits are related to weight loss, health, natural remedies
and other helpful information. Tidbits will only be 3-4 lines
with the Premium ad & contest being the first to be seen and
ad will run all throughout the ezine.

There will be only 1 ad in this spot. The contest question
will be, how many times can you find the Premium ad throughout
the ezine? The first person that answers it correctly will get
the next Premium Ad in the next issue.

The other places for ads area called the Direct Headquarters
Ads, which will consist of no more than 3 ads - Then Top
Sponsor Headquarters Ad, which will have 4 - 5 ads - The
Middle Headquarters Ads - number of ads will be determined as
they come in - The Bottom Headquarters Ads, the number of ads
will also be determined on how many come in - The Penny
Pincher Headquarter Ads, number will be also on how many ads
come in. It will be published 3 days a week. Hopefully
Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

Great news! All ads for ANew Weight Loss Headquarters, ads
with tidbits are free! That's right plus the only requirement
is that you are a subscriber of ANew Weight Loss Ezine. We
don't know how long this offer will be available or how long
you can run the ad without being a subscriber. So get your
ads in now and help us kick this new ezine off with a great
new start! Don't miss out so join now by sending a blank
email to: 70298-subscribe@zinester.com

The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fats, the good, the bad & the ugly. Let's face it, the low
carb craze has got a lot of us hooked.
The good part is that is works! That's right so many have
lost weight including myself. However I do the low carb and
low fat diet formulated from The South Beach Diet. I am not
a believer in the Atkins diet although the two are similar.
The bad part is so many are blinded about the low carb diet
that they can see the fat if it was put right in from of them.
First, know that not all fats are created equal. Many foods
contain several different kinds of fat - including saturated,
polyunsaturated, monounsaturated and trans fat - and some
types are better for your health than others. In addition,
it's not necessary that you completely eliminate all fats
from your meals. Rather, choose the best types of fat and
enjoy them in moderation.
Here is where it gets ugly! The damage the bad fats can do to
you. Bad fats can increase your blood cholesterol levels and
risk of coronary artery disease plus increase your risk of
heart disease.
Trans fats, saturated fats, yuk! Usually solid or waxy at
room temperature, saturated fat is most often found in animal
products - such as red meat, poultry, butter and whole milk.
Other foods high in saturated fat include coconut, palm and
other tropical oils.
Trans fat - also referred to as trans-fatty acids - comes
from adding hydrogen to vegetable oil through a process
called hydrogenation. This makes the fat more solid and less
likely to turn rancid. Hydrogenated fat is a common
ingredient in commercial baked goods - such as crackers,
cookies and cakes - and in fried foods such as doughnuts and
french fries. Shortenings and some margarines are high in
trans fat. Look for the words hydrogenated or partially
hydrogenated in the list of ingredients to see if trans fat
is included.
Recipes of the Month
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I hope everyone enjoyed last month's recipes as much as I
did. Try this new recipe out next. Great to get started on
this one now and pass around for the summer time.

Friendship Cake

In a gallon jar mix:

1 1/2 Cups starter juice
1 -29oz. Can peaches (diced-juice and all)
2 1/2 Cups sugar

Stir daily for 10 days

ADD:
1 large can pineapple chucks (diced-juice and all)
2 1/2 Cups sugar

Stir daily for 10 days

ADD:
16 oz. Maraschino cherries (chopped-juice and all)

Stir daily for 10 days

Drain juice from fruit thoroughly and save for friends

In a large bowl mix:

3 boxes yellow cake mix (Not the one with pudding)
3 small boxes of instant vanilla pudding
1 dozen eggs
2 cups oil (for health reasons I use Canola Oil)
3 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Add the drained fruit and mix. Bake in 3 bundt pans for 1
hour @ 325 ?°

Optional: you can also add 1 cup of coconut to the mix

***NOTE*** if you don't have your starter juice just make
this recipe omitting the starter juice. When done save
yourself the starter juice and some for a friend and start
all over. It is kinda expensive to begin but well worth the
results.
