Controlling Bone & Joint Problems?

When was the last time you went for a walk without pain?
What prescription did your doctor give you to alleviate
and prevent the joint pain? Did that prescription correct
the problem? Chances are it didn't!

Bone and joint problems are the number one problem that
causes disability in the U.S.. Sadly our chemical laden
medical world treats symptoms not problems, therefore are
not helping of the problem.

According to medical experts one in seven people are
experiencing joint problems. For those over 65 years of
age it soars to 80% plagued with joint problems. There are
several reasons for these problems. Being traumatic overuse
or underuse of the joints as well as poor diet, bacterial
infection or virus, immune deficiency factors and heredity
all playing a role.

Post World War II the pharmaceutical industry began to
adulterate and try to reproduce natural for chemical drugs.
Before there were herbs that were capable of rebuilding the
bones and joints hence alleviating the problem. But the drug
companies attempts have been a dismal failure and creates
more problems than they solve.  Of course that industry has
tried to please the Fast Food mentality that now exists, by
giving fast pain relief without curtailing those problems
creating pain!

Basic science tells us that our body regenerates itself when
given the proper tools to do so. But that has long been
forgotten and is rarely to never taught in our medical
schools. History also teaches that the proper nutrition can
repair our bodies as well. That too is being ignored by the
bulk of physicians and scientists. If regeneration was truly
taught by our medical schools the pharmaceutical companies
could not sell so many chemical laden body-destroying drugs,
which line their pockets with wealth. So it's no mystery to
me why they would not make something that works, it would
drain their coffers? At the risk of sounding negative,
medicine is a business to those training our doctors!

My grandmother always said, "If I don't move about, I won't
move about!" Our sedentary lifestyles also contribute to the
pain our joints and bones suffer. The stiffness and soreness
due to inactivity, frequently start as minor symptoms, often
initiated by bad weather. Before too long the stiffness
leads to agonizing symptoms, propelling you to your the
doctor's office. Where the rule of regeneration is broken.
Exercise has proven to help regenerate the bones and joints
but our society has been brain washed to think that pain
should stop you from moving! So the get up and move, when
joint pain hits in order to rebuild them, no longer exists
as in past generations!

Diet is another factor and poor eating habits are usually
found among people with joint and bone problems. A diet
lacking in fresh fruits, vegetables, minerals and omega-3
fats can lead to the production of sticky, watery joint
fluid that is unable to properly nourish cartilage and other
joint structures with inability to flush out the toxins that
build up. It is important for people with joint and bone
problems to eat whole foods, including fruits, vegetables,
grains and nuts and drink plenty of clean, clear chemical-
free filtered water. Take daily food supplements, especially
minerals, vitamins and Omega 3 laden fish or flax-seed oil
that will help rebuild the immune system and aid in nutrient
absorption in your diet.

A real and dangerous happening in our medical world!

Have you ever known a person taking medications such as the
common NSAID's (ibuprofen, aspirin, Motrin, etc.) to

Neither have I, it does not happen! In the twenty plus years

- Aleve -Rufen - Bufferin - Datril - Indocin - Nuprin -
Asolid - Liquipen - Nafon - Butazolidin - Tylenol - Oxalid -
Advil - Tolectin - Excedrin -IB - Clinoril - Midol 2000.
If you are taking any of these you are unknowingly spiraling
into worse joints and bones.

Tidbits for this Month

1. When having the home painted, be sure to peel a raw onion
and lay it in the middle of each room. They will soak up the
paint odor. You can fill small holes in walls with a paste
of flour and water.

2. Before painting window panes, put wet newspaper squares
on the glass. They will keep your glass paint free, then
fall off when the paint is dry.

3. Wash windows with a gallon of warm water with 1/2 cup of
corn starch in it. Polish with a soft cloth until they shine

4. Cockroaches will stay away from your kitchen if you put
down a preventative of 1/2 borax and 1/4 cup flour. Mix them
together and spread around edges of the kitchen.

5. Another preventative measure for keeping cockroaches out
of your cabinets is to put bay leaves in the corner of each
cabinet. They do not like them.

6. Ants will avoid your kitchen if you put torn up catnip
leaves in all the corners.

Last minute vacations are not my cup of tea. However this
one my husband cooked up turned out to be a great place to
go. That was at Destin, Florida and did I mention we took
our grandkids, 2 of them, ages 5 and 6.

Now I know what some of you are thinking, are we crazy or
what? But you know to see their faces light up when they
headed for the sand and the beach was a one time sight.

My granddaughter had already been once a few years ago when
she was 3 and now my grandson who is 3 saw it all for the
first time. The look on his face when he saw a great BIG
sand box and the water is a memory I can never forget.

One thing for sure he has NO fear of anything. He ran right
into those waves not even knowing it was salt water. To my
surprise he didn't care. He would sit at the edge of the
water and wait for the waves to come and if they did not
come up high enough he would scoot down further until they
would go over his head. He'd get up run to shore and do it
again. Where do they get all their energy?

They both did great and us? Well they wore us out for sure!
The worse part was coming home. I guess being away from home
kinda upset my grandson's belly as we made 4 stops for him
having diarrhea. It took us double the time to return home.
I sleep the next day and I mean all day and then I got a bad
cold from the air conditioner in the hotel. So that is how
my last week and this week went. What about yours? Send in

Recipes of the Month

Shrimp and Broccoli Stir-Fry

Makes 6 servings

1 tablespoon safflower oil
2 small onions, halved and thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, sliced
3 cups chopped broccoli
2 cups sliced mushrooms
1 pound shrimp, shelled and deveined
1/2 pound snow peas
1 tablespoon tamari or soy sauce
2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
3 tablespoons water (optional)

Heat a very large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, then
add the oil. Ad the onions and garlic and stir quickly,
until translucent. Add the broccoli and stir-fry util they
release their liquid.

Add the shrimp, snow peas, tamari, and ginger. If necessary,
add water to prevent sticking. Stir-fry the ingredients
until the shrimp are cooed through and the vegetables are
crisp-tender.

** VARIATION: Serve over 3 cups of hot cooked rice.
