Hello my dear readers! Especially for those readers of you who don??™t realize ???advantages??? of a job yet I place here an abstract. Think about it. Changing work for??¦ freedom Vladimir Volosenkov Sounds a bit terrifying, doesn??™t it? And it is completely unclear what work may possibly have to do with freedom. In fact, it does have quite a lot. The hypersensitive are strongly advised against reading on, for it might tell upon their health. The modern society rests entirely upon ruined individuality. From the very first day at school the student is obliged to stand up whenever a teacher enters the classroom, sit down and shut up, even if they would rather run out and talk. This drill goes on for about ten years and what do you think are drills for in the army? Nobody marches in fine squares these days; the trick is to keep people from thinking. There is a certain pleasure in it, you just have to march on, and you will even be told when to turn. You might object that people also happen to learn things at school. Yet, deep down, was there anything on the syllabus you did need in life? The structure of pistils and stamens? One can contemplate floral beauties without knowing that. Chemical formulas? Conceivably, you will be gratified by the awareness that it is really and truly H2O, not some lesser mortals ???water??™ simmering in your kettle in the morning. Literature? classes? Those who needed it would pore over books anyway. Upon the whole, the few grains of knowledge that really may come in handy can be gained on one??™s own ten times more quickly than at school. Still, knowledge is not power, stated though the contrary may be. School graduates with their heads stuffed full of knowledge are hopelessly ill-equipped for life. And so they will be when they will have received higher education. Equally helpless, clutching their diplomas with or without honors, they seek to apply the knowledge they paid for with fifteen years of their lives and the best half of their health. Still, there are a few intrepid ones who think they do not know enough and go for a second and a third education. And, most alarmingly, everybody thinks of little else than getting a job somewhere to start toiling away. How could different thoughts enter anyone??™s mind, though, no such thing ever mentioned at school? This is how humans devoid of identity are molded, ever so obliging and convenient to use. One only has to show them the ???aim??™ and point to the ???majority??™. The ???aim??™ used to be communism, and what are we up to these days? You could tell that the old soviet ideology has been ironed out. The truth, however, is that it has been replaced by a new one, tentatively termed ???earn more that others??™. And so people put their shoulders to the wheel, go to work every morning, pave their ways for something. You spend years; scores of years at work until death do you apart. You are rewarded with the permission to stay off work at weekends and to let your hair go once a year. All too often, however, especially diligent workers do not enjoy even these little advantages. When you finally get home, all you do is flake out in front of the TV and drift off to sleep with a heavy heart, knowing that tomorrow will repeat today to a nicety. And yes, you could also pick a quarrel with your family just for a change. Has anybody doubts what author advices in the second part of the article? ;) As you can see, I haven??™t ever placed any feedback from you. I think such situation doesn??™t make our ezine better. If you think it??™s not as interesting as it could be write your ideas, my mailbox is realemployment @ mail.com. If you don??™t have anything to say ??“ you may send me interesting articles to be placed here. If you found this issue interesting please make you friends and acquaintance known about it just redirecting this letter. Pavel Nosikov |
