  • Spain: Escuela Europea de Negocios (EEN) offers MBA

Escuela Europea de Negocios (EEN) was founded almost 20 years ago.This European School of Businesses is one of the most important private institutions in Spain for postdegrees and managers. It has solid international relations, with a great growth in Latin America, where it cooperates with Universities, Educative and Governmental Institutions and Companies.

Nowadays, EEN has several campuses in Spain (Asturias, Granada, Madrid, Murcia, Salamanca and Valladolid), and abroad (Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru); and it has like aim to fulfill the requirements of this international environment, through the permanent investigation and the use of pedagogical resources that include new technologies.

  • Leiden: Extra PhD places for talented students

Ten talented students from Leiden University are invited to submit a proposal for doctoral research to NWO. NWO's Toptalent programme is intended to promote the development of talented researchers. The 42 places will be competed for by students from all the Dutch universities. In September 2005 the notice Onderzoekstalent op waarde geschat (a report assessing the value of research talent) was published by the Ministry of Education. This document includes ideas from the Ministry to make studying for a PhD more attractive.

One of these ideas has been further developed by the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) and will now be implemented by NWO: the Toptalent programme, which is aimed at giving young, creative and talented researchers the opportunity to write a dissertation on a research proposal of their choice. Successful candidates can start their promotional track immediately after they have completed their studies.

  • 17m Brits would swap long hours for less stress

Over 60 per cent of Brits, around 17 million in total, would swap longer working hours for a less stressful job, according to a new survey. Figures from Prudential show that more than three-fifths of the UK population would consider relocating to a cheaper area in the UK to take a less stressful job.

The research also discovered that a good work life balance is the most important aspect of a job for a quarter of Brits while money is no longer a key motivator for 30 per cent of the working population.
