Sweden’s foreign-student population continues to grow, and the country compares favourably with its international peers as a place to study. Such are the findings of a new report published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Half of Spain’s recent economic growth can be attributed to immigration, a Spanish government backed report says. As a whole, it is reckoned that immigrants contribute more to the nation’s finances than they receive.

Swiss firms are to create thousands of new jobs next year, according to a survey carried out by the Handelszeitung business newspaper. The results come from a study of the top ten biggest companies in Switzerland, as well as the 25 firms listed on the Swiss blue-chip index - SMI.

Tougher A* grades will be introduced at A-level to identify the brightest students, the Government announced recently.
The move will be seen by critics as an admission that existing tests fail to stretch students properly or differentiate between the best and worst candidates.
