L. Edwards

Born and raised in New Orleans, L. Edwards has arrived

in
Houston as a Hurricane Katrina evacuee, but is

quickly becoming a familiar face among the Houston

spoken word scene.

A 1999 graduate of Grambling State University, L.

Edwards -ne? Leonce Hall- has balanced his passion for

writing with several other interests, including web

design and music. He has been writing since sixth

grade, but began composing poetry and short stories

with a renewed focus after leaving college. Seeking to

share his work, L nervously ventured into the New

Orleans poetry scene, quickly gaining local acclaim.

Soon after, L found himself the winner of the 2004 New

Orleans Poetry Slam, and a member of the 2004 and 2005

National Poetry Slam teams.

L. Edwards combines creativity, spirituality, and

wisdom in an effort to offer just a little insight

into the journey of life. He says that
he has been

given a gift, and that his greatest joy is sharing it
