Seventh Edition, May, 2007 Welcome New Subscribers I've made it through my first dozen or so appearances, and as a result, have signed up a lot of new subscribers to my email newsletter list. Welcome to you all! I've also awarded two new gift baskets to the following winners: Gertrud Kelley from Crescent, Oklahoma, who chose the mystery lovers gift basket. Ron Steinbach from Fort Collins, Colorado, who chose the chocoholic gift basket. I will be on two panels at the Mayhem in the Midlands conference in Omaha, Nebraska this weekend and on one panel at the Murder in the Grove conference in Boise, Idaho during the weekend of June 8-9. In between those conferences I'll be stuffing in book signings and library and book club visits. Check out the Appearances page at my website for a listing through the end of June: http://bethgroundwater.com/Appearances.html . I'd love to meet as many of you as possible face-to face! And bring a friend, please. I've been very pleased and encouraged by the wonderful sales of A Real Basket Case at my appearances. Thanks, everyone, for your support. It means so much to me! And the feedback I'm getting from readers who have enjoyed Claire's story is absolutely wonderful. After collecting more than my fair share of rejections in this business, your kind words really boost my spirits. ate when I reach my goal! Check out my book from your library The Worldcat inter-library loan system shows that copies of A Real Basket Case are available in at least 150 library systems in the United States. If you do not have the means to buy a copy, check it out from your library. And if your library doesn't have a copy, request that they buy one! Most libraries ask for the information that I've listed below. My personal goal is to get the book into libraries in all 50 states, so if you live in one of the following states, please request it at your library: Connecticut, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Carolina, Vermont and West Virginia. Then email me about it, so I can celebrate when I reach my goal! Book Title: A Real Basket Case Author Name: Beth Groundwater Publisher: Thomson Gale/Five Star Publishing ISBN: 9781594145476 Print News The latest issue of Mystery Scene Magazine, the one with Ian Rankin on the cover, includes an essay written by me in their New Books column. Titled "A Basketful of Motivation," it appears on page 57 of the issue. Take a gander and let me know what you think. Also, the May/June issue of Crime Spree Magazine contains a review of A Real Basket Case by Judy Clemens that ends with the words, "Groundwater's characters, especially Claire, are sympathetic and interesting, and I found myself really caring about Claire, her marriage, and that justice be done. A Real Basket Case and its author are a welcome addition to the mystery genre." The Sunday, May 6th, issue of the Daily Camera, the Boulder, CO newspaper, listed A Real Basket Case as the #6 local bestseller in hardcover. Must have been because of my signing with the "Mystery Through the Ages" panel at High Crimes bookstore on April 24th, because a co-signer, Patricia Stoltey, was listed at #8. It's still a thrill to see my name on ANY bestseller list! Book Clubs My Book Club contest is in full swing now, so if you are a member of a Book Club, please contact me to arrange for me to call-in or speak in person to your club. Your Book Club will be entered into a drawing for a signed spiral-bound manuscript of the book made prior to copy edit or an advanced reading copy. I'm a member of a Book Club myself and love to speak to other clubs. Ask me whatever you want to know about A Real Basket Case or the life of a writer. Blog Entries Have you stopped by my blog at www.bethgroundwater.blogspot.com ? You'll find lots of interesting stories about my 10-day book tour of Virginia and Pennsylvania. Memorable moments include surviving the speed-dating for authors event called Malice-Go-Round at the Malice Domestic conference; lunching with the Sisters in Crime "Guppies" chapter at Malice; signing the bathroom wall at the Mystery Lovers Bookshop in Oakmont, PA; the kid who threw up during my signing at the College of William and Mary Bookstore in Williamsburg, VA; my first "groupies" in Charlottesville, VA; and my proud dad handing out fliers and whispering that the new mystery author over there is his daughter. :-) Contact Me If you have any questions or topics you want me to address on my blog and/or in my newsletter, please feel free to email me anytime at website07@bethgroundwater.com . |
