Eleventh Edition, October, 2007 First Royalty Check! I just deposited my first royalty check in the bank. It arrived along with a royalty statement for January-June, 2007 showing my sales figures during that time period for A REAL BASKET CASE after its March release. The nice check meant I earned out my advance on royalties in spades and in three months, with more income to come for continuing sales on the hardcover edition and on the January release of the large-print edition. The advance a publisher gives you is an indication of their expectation of your sales, and it's always nice to beat expectations! Need a Holiday Gift Idea? Do you have a mystery lover on your holiday giving list? How about giving them a copy of A REAL BASKET CASE? Or, even better, steal ideas from my Mystery Lover?s Gift Basket recipe on the Articles page of my website. If you live in the United States and would like a personalized, signed bookplate from me to stick inside a gift copy of my book, then contact me me. Give me your mailing address, and tell me how you want me to sign the bookplate, e.g. just my name, personalized as from you to a gift recipient, or whatever. I will mail you that signed bookplate! Please Request my Book from your Local Library The Calcat interlibrary loan system shows that copies of A REAL BASKET CASE are available in at least 290 library systems in the United States. If you do not have the means to buy a copy, check it out from your library. And if your library doesn't have a copy, request that they buy one! Most libraries ask for the information that I've listed below. I?m hoping to hit 300 libraries by the end of the year. Also, I?d like to get the book into libraries in all 50 states, and I have two to go. If you live in Hawaii or Vermont, please request A REAL BASKET CASE at your library. Website Updates Go to Author Photos on my website to check out the new photos I added from the Great Manhattan Mystery Conclave in Manhattan, KS, including a shot with Diane Mott Davidson, one of my favorite mystery authors and a great mentor on promotion. I posted a story about that conference on my blog as well as stories about a Sisters in Crime tour of the FBI building in Denver, my first craft fair signing, and the Author Fest of the Rockies, a benefit for the Manitou Springs, CO library. Another Winner in Email Newsletter Subscription Contest Maureen Morra from Lecanto, FL won two hardcover mystery books, one being an autographed copy of A REAL BASKET CASE, in my email newsletter subscription contest. She is the sixteenth winner in my contest, and the list is steadily growing toward 1700 members, now that I?m doing book club visits and signing up attendees at each one.
