Twelfth Edition, January, 2008

Happy New Year, Happy New Contract!

I want to wish you all a Happy New Year! I hope 2008 brings to you everything you're hoping for! Speaking of which, just before the New Year, I got what I was hoping for...

On December 29th, I signed the publishing contract for the sequel to A Real Basket Case, titled To Hell in a Handbasket. It should be released sometime in the first half of 2009. To Hell in a Handbasket takes place in Breckenridge, CO. My gift basket designer, Claire Hanover, and her family's ski vacation goes to hell in a handbasket when the sister of her daughter's boyfriend is killed on the ski slope. I had a lot of fun researching the book, which includes scenes involving snowshoeing, riding snowmobiles, and a high speed car chase down I-70. We’ve added a photo of me signing the contract at the bottom of the Author Photos page of my website.

Media Exposure

The Winter 2007-2008 issue of the Mysterical-E ezine has a great cover! Then, click on the cover and peruse the contents. There's quite a selection of short stories, many written by fellow members of the Short Mystery Fiction Society and Sisters in Crime. Great reading! If you continue to page down, you'll see a list of author interviews. I'm listed just above my editor, Denise Dietz. I'm thrilled to have my interview included with hers. Please take a gander at my interview and let me know what you think. Joe De Marco, the editor of Mysterical-E, had some tough questions that made me think.

Joan Reeves, on December 13th in her Sling Words blog under the title “10 Authors to Discover” talked about mid-list authors, what they are and how difficult it is for them to get public notice. Then she lists a few examples, and I'm included in the list for A Real Basket Case. I've read books by many of the other authors on the list and recommend them. What Joan has to say is definitely food for thought.

And as a reminder, the large-print edition of A Real Basket Case will be released by Wheeler Publishing on January 22nd. For those of you who prefer large-print or know someone who does, the ISBN-13 for the large-print edition is: 978-1597226745. It is available for preorder at Amazon and other online booksellers and your local bookstore.
