Greetings, Cruise Fans- Welcome to the June 14th edition of the 7 Seas Cruise News. Tonight, we have a lineup of information about ships and cruise lines, but first a word from Pat Crane, proprietor of 7 Seas Cruises and my favorite husband. Pat asked me to remind everyone that this is shaping up to be a great cruise season-if you like to save money. It's true. There are some excellent prices out there. Even Alaska is cheaper than it's been in the last few years. And Pat will not only get you the absolutely best available price, he will then lower it even further by cutting his commission-just to make sure you are one happy sailor! Call him toll- free anytime at 1-866-424-1090. You can email him at cruiseplanners7seascruises@msn.com, or just visit the website at www.7seascruises anytime to get a little inspiration. And if you have an interest in holiday sailings, act now! Right now, you can lock up a fabulous price for the Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving or Hanukkah cruise of your dreams. And just in case that price gets lower (it happens now and then), Pat will get you that lower price! See? There's another fantastic reason to make Pat your man in the cruise game. He really is a darlin'. And now, some cruise news... Princess Cruises will add another 'gem' to its fleet in November 2008, with the debut of Ruby Princess. The line has unveiled the ship's name along with its inaugural deployment - a season of seven-day Western Caribbean sailings from Fort Lauderdale. Ruby Princess is a sister to the enthusiastically received Emerald Princess and Crown Princess, and will make its maiden sailing on November 15, 2008. Its Caribbean program will feature calls at Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and the line's private beach, Princess Cays in the Bahamas. The new vessel includes a dramatic piazza-style atrium featuring small-bite eateries and an ever- changing array of performing street entertainers. Passengers will also enjoy Princess' other array of dining venues including the signature Sabatini' s Italian trattoria and the Crown Grill steak and seafood restaurant, plus a relaxing oasis just for adults called The Sanctuary. Ruby Princess will also offer the many other innovations that define the Princess experience, including the popular Movies Under the Stars poolside movie screen, multiple entertainment options, Personal Choice Dining featuring traditional or Anytime seating, a relaxing Asian- style Lotus Spa with fitness center, an extensive children and teen's center, a wedding chapel and nearly 900 staterooms with private balconies, just perfect for the scenic Caribbean islands. On the fins of last season's wildly popular Alaskan salmon cuisine offered every night on its Alaska-bound cruise ships, Holland America Line expands the menu by offering a completely wild Alaskan seafood dinner three times a week throughout the Alaska cruise season, and wild Alaskan salmon every night.Key to Holland America Line's "Wild" dinner menu is that all the prepared seafood comes only from Alaskan commercial fishermen; no farm-raised fish or bivalves are served. Created by Holland America Line's Master Chef Rudi Sodamin, the "Wild" dinner reflects the ongoing popularity of wild Alaskan seafood. Appetizers start with an Avocado and Tomato Dungeness Crab Salad, followed by Smoked Chowder featuring hot- smoked Ketchikan Salmon, then highlighted with Herb-Crusted Alaskan Weathervane Scallops or Ginger-glazed Alaska Black Cod. Dinners are capped with Holland America Line's famous Gold Rush Baked Alaska, complete with a dusting of real edible gold, offered each night with a revolving variety of tempting toppings. Two years ago, Holland America Line scored an industry first with "Going Wild for Salmon," which featured an extensive menu rotation of Alaskan salmon dishes during each cruise. As the salmon season hits full stride, Holland America Line's famous on-deck Salmon Bake will prepare an array of such flavors as Basted Honey Maple, Soy Garlic, and Holland America Line's award-winning Dill, Sea Salt and Vodka, a salmon culinary treat. Meanwhile, the ms Westerdam recently launched its 2007 Europe cruise season with the unveiling of new staterooms, more shopping opportunities, a larger Pinnacle Grill and Bar, and a spectacular view for guests when they enjoy their morning latt?. A new Explorations Caf?, powered by The New York Times, has been created at the top of the ship in a portion of the Crow's Nest on Observation Deck. This improvement is part of the first wave of innovative Signature of Excellence fleet-wide enhancements, which cost more than $ 225 million. Work on the Westerdam was completed a day earlier than expected at Fincantieri Palermo Shipyard in Italy. Located in the Crow's Nest, the new Explorations Caf?, powered by The New York Times, provides magnificent vistas while guests surf the Internet Center, read a book, listen to music, or relax with friends, sipping a specialty coffee or enjoying a tasty pastry. The popular Pinnacle Grill alternative restaurant on Lower Promenade Deck was expanded to accommodate 136 guests. A new Pinnacle Bar separate from the restaurant was created. One deck higher, on Promenade Deck, the former location of the Internet Center now features additional shopping areas and a small coffee bar. The Holland America Line Signature Shops have expanded and a new high- end jewelry store, the Merabella, which was first introduced on the ms Amsterdam - has been added. The guest capacity of Westerdam also has increased with the addition of 34 verandah and inside cabins on the aft Upper Verandah, Rotterdam and Navigation decks. The new staterooms, complete with signature amenities such as flat-panel TVs and plush Euro-top Mariner' s Dream Beds, give Westerdam a guest capacity of 1,916. The stars aligned for Celebrity Cruises earlier this month, as the line confirmed its order for a fourth Solstice-class cruise ship. The new vessel will enter service in fall 2011, following sister ships Celebrity Solstice in Fall 2008, Celebrity Equinox in Summer 2009, and Celebrity Eclipse in Summer 2010, bringing Celebrity's total fleet to 11 ships. Like its sister ships, Celebrity's fourth Solstice-class liner will have larger standard staterooms, 90 percent of which will be outside, and 85 percent of all staterooms will have verandas. The 2,850- guest vessels will have an exceptional range of guest-inspired services and amenities, and will measure 1,033 feet in length and 121 feet in width. German shipbuilder Meyer Werft will build the 122,000-ton ship. That's it for this edition! Give Pat a call. Fall bargains are available now-along with great summer cruise rates. 1-866-424-1090. Help Pat celebrate Father's Day by buying yourself a fabulous cruise! Until next time, smooth sailing, my friends! Teri |
