Greetings, Cruise Fans Welcome to a long-overdue issue of the 7 Seas Cruise News. My fault! First there was work. Tons and tons of work. And then there was pneumonia for me and bronchitis for Pat. We laid around feeling sorry for each other until the antibiotics licked in. Now, we're good, healthy and ready to sell cruises! That's where you come in. There are some excellent prices out there-for spring, summer and fall. The cruise lines are all putting on a brave face, but there aren't many "sold out" situations-and that means plenty of cabins- and that means great prices! If you've entertained the idea of a cruise, call Pat this weekend and let him help you find a great value! You can find him all weekend. 1- 866-424-1090! You can email Pat at cruiseplanners7seascruises@msn.com, but he won't be able to respond until March 22. Next week, we'll be on the rehabbed Celebrity Century-a nice ship before and said to be a beauty now. We'll let you know how she looks in the next newsletter which I promise will be March 25! We have lots of cruise news, but first a couple of unusual opportunities…for baseball fans and those of you who live in LA or Vancouver. First, you can meet Tommy Davis, Stan Bahnsen, Jeff Torborg, Dave Campbell and Bob Feller on board of MSC Lirica. If you don't have a clue who these guys are, this Is probably not the cruise for you. On the other hand, if baseball is your game, you might enjoy meeting these legends. Along with all the usual cruise things, you can enjoy an interactive question-and-answer session with the players, player-hosted trivia games, a lively story-telling session in which the players share candid revelations about some of the "characters" of the game, COMPLIMENTARY AUTOGRAPHS and pitching, hitting, and defense strategy clinics. This is a 7-night cruise aboard the MSC LIRICA, as low as $449, sailing December 13, 2008. Here' s the itinerary: Fort Lauderdale, Florida | Key West, Florida | Cozumel, Mexico | Georgetown, Grand Cayman | Cayo Levantado, Dominican Republic | Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Call Pat for details at 1-866-424-1090. If you live in LA, how about a nice 3-night cruise to Vancouver? Prices are excellent and there's a choice of Princess ships-the Island Princess, Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess. They're heading north for their Alaska seasons. Mini suites and balconies are available starting around $299. Call Pat for all the details, which include a return flight back to LA for $99. And now, some cruise news… Eight months from its launch, Celebrity Cruises' newest ship, Celebrity Solstice, already is being heralded as the most exciting ship entering the market in 2008, because of staterooms 15 percent larger than those on previous Celebrity ships, a half- acre Lawn Club with real grass, a glassblowing show and studio developed with The Corning Museum of Glass, and unrivaled dining venues offering trendsetting cuisine and design. Special places onboard include: Quasar-Guests who love the mod, futuristic designs of the '60s and '70s will find Quasar particularly captivating. Cocoon-shaped acrylic chairs suspended from the ceiling will enhance the drama of the space, as will state-of-the-art lighting and four large LED screens programmed to create a nightly light show synchronized with the music. The Pool Deck-A unique series of animated water fountains that can be synchronized to music will serve as a constant source of surprise on the pool deck onboard Celebrity Solstice. Meanwhile, live music will be performed on the adjacent stage on days at sea, as well as during themed parties and other special events. Aker Yards announced it has reached an understanding with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. to build a fourth ship in the Freedom class -- currently the world's largest cruise ship at 158,000 tons and 3,600 passengers. The vessel would be delivered in the second half of 2011. Aker Yards has previously delivered two of these record-breaking cruise ships, and will deliver the third ship in April from its yard in Turku, Finland. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has announced a new rule that requires cruise ships departing from US ports to provide the full passenger manifest to government officials 60 minutes before departure. This means that all guests must be checked in and onboard at least an hour before the ship sets sail. Previously, though it was never recommended to cut things so close, passengers could check in and board a ship minutes before departure. To comply with the new rule, cruise lines have established rules of their own, requiring passengers to submit certain personal information several days prior to departure, and/or embark no later than 90 minutes prior to the ship's scheduled departure time. Guests who do not meet these new requirements may be denied boarding by the cruise line. Arrive early! An expansive new aqua park featuring a 300- foot-long water slide, along with an exclusive adults-only area, and a totally redesigned "resort-style" main pool will be incorporated into the Carnival Fantasy when the 2,052-passenger SuperLiner undergoes a multi-million-dollar dry dock this fall. Taking center stage on the Verandah Deck will be Carnival WaterWorks, a spectacular aqua park featuring a four-deck-high 300-foot-long corkscrew water slide - the longest, most elaborate at sea - along with an 82-foot-long dual-lane racing slide, and various water spray apparatus creating cool and exhilarating fun for kids and adults, alike. Then there is Serenity, an exclusive adults- only outdoor retreat designed as an ocean- going oasis for relaxation, tranquility and comfort. Offering magnificent ocean vistas, Serenity will feature plush chaise lounges and chairs, colorful oversized umbrellas, two whirlpools, and a separate area where guests can relax in shaded comfort. The traditional "hurry up and wait" disembarkation process that has long been a cruise industry tradition is now history aboard Princess ships, as the line introduces a new, streamlined farewell process for passengers. Contrasted with the typical end- of-cruise departure where passengers listen to public address system announcements for their luggage tag color to be called signaling the staggered times they will disembark, Princess has debuted an efficient, more relaxed process for passengers leaving the ship. Passengers are each given an assigned time and place to assemble on the final morning and are personally escorted to the gangway by a member of the ship's staff, eliminating the guesswork as to the actual time passengers will be disembarking. The new program is in the process of being rolled out fleetwide. That's it for this Thursday evening. Pat's waiting for your call! And have a great weekend! Teri |
