Greetings, Cruise Fans-- Welcome to the June 9 edition of the 7 Seas Cruises News. Pat and I were talking about the state of the cruise business and although no one will admit it, it simply HAS to be feeling the effects of this economy! Granted, if you live near a port, cruising is a cheaper alternative than the traditional driving vacation. Still, cruise prices are being hit with increasing fuel surcharges. They are scheduled to go up again at the end of June. Pat recommends, therefore, if you are thinking about a cruise, book it now and save $5 or $7 per person per day! All-in-all, cruise fares are very good now, and most voyages have space available. The exceptions are the high-demand ships like the Freedom of the Seas. Stick to the slightly older ships or cruise lines like NCL and you CAN afford a summer vacation! Compromise on your cabin and save even more. Call Pat toll-free at 1-866- 424-1090 and see what he can do for you! Browse your options at www.7seascruises.com, but call to see what the real price is. Pat can usually beat the prices you'll see on the website. And now, here's some cruise news... Forget Shore Excursions, I'm getting my face done at sea! Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), in partnership with Steiner Transocean, LLC announced today that it is the first cruise line to offer BOTOX® Cosmetic, Restylane® and Perlane® facial aesthetic treatments in its Mandara-operated spas. The treatments, which are part of Mandara's medi-spa program, are currently available on select NCL ships, including Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Spirit, with plans to launch fleet- wide this fall. All of the facial aesthetic treatments are under the supervision of Steiner's Medical Director, Dr. Brad Herman, a Miami-based, board-certified plastic surgeon and his team of medically-licensed doctors who have been trained specifically in the administration of these treatments. Guests can schedule a 30-minute consultation with the medi-spa physician on board who will create an individualized treatment plan. Costa Floats Two at Once! The funnel has been fitted on the Costa Lumonosa, the fleet's 32nd in its illustrious history. The launch by floating out of the ship, scheduled for June 27, will be taking place together with that of the Costa Pacifica. Work is continuing in Fincantieri's Marghera yard on the construction of the Costa Luminosa, the next flagship of the Costa Cruises fleet. Her funnel has the same distinctive yellow funnel with the blue 'C' that for six decades has graced every vessel in the Costa Cruises fleet. In the last 60 years, some 31 ships have been members of the Italian company's historic fleet. The first ship was the Anna C, the first Costa Cruises passenger ship which left Genoa on March 31 1948, to the most recent flagship Costa Serena, which entered service in May 2007. This means that the Costa Luminosa will be the 32nd fleet member. The Port of M?laga will be a home port for two of the biggest Royal Caribbean cruise ships: the "Navigator of the Seas" and the " Brilliance of the Seas", in 2009 and 2010, respectively. The luxurious vessel "Navigator of the Seas" will arrive in M?laga during the Autumn season in the next year 2009 and will make a total of six short voyages with departures and arrivals from the Port of M?laga. There are two different itineraries around the Mediterranean and the Eastern Atlantic Coast. The first of them lasts six days, travelling around Mediterranean corners, such as the French Coast, and finally arriving in M?laga. The other one, also starting in the Port of M?laga, will go along the Atlantic coast to discover Tenerife and Funchal, in a six day voyage.Brilliance of the Seas which belongs to Radiance class hosts about 2,500 passengers and 869 crew members.Future passengers will be able to choose between seven night voyages from M?laga. Running Out of Oceans? Try a River! According to MSNBC, there are some river cruising options that are worthy of consideration. Here's their rundown of the best rivers for cruising (in order)… 1. Amazon, 2. Danube, 3. Hudson & St. Lawrence Seaway, 4. Mekong ( incidentally, it's the 12th largest in the world and runs from China through Burma, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Viet Nam before dumping into the South China Sea), 5. Mississippi (Hurry! The Delta Queen retires in 2009), 6. Murray (the Mississippi of Australia), 7. Nile, 8. Seine, 9. Volga ( Moscow to St. Petersburg), and 10. Yangtze. Pat can help you put together a great river cruise when you're ready! Give Pat a call to plan a discounted cruise! 1-866-424-1090. He would love to help you! That's it for now. Until next time, smooth sailing! Teri |
