Subject: 7 Seas Cruise News - February10, 2003

Hello, Cruise Fans!

Welcome to another edition of the 7 Seas Cruise
News. Once again, it's brought to you by Pat
Crane and his 7 Seas Cruises. Besides being my
Valentine, he's also your best friend when it
comes to finding a great discount price on any
cruise to anyplace!

The hint of the week must be this one that Pat
passed on to me. He said, and I quote, "Please
tell everyone to give me all the info they can if
they call or write for a cruise quote." By this
he means, let him know if you are a past
passenger of the cruise line, and what state you
live in, and whether you might happen to be a
senior (55 by cruise line standards, making some
of us just months from being cruising seniors!!).
Just this past week, Pat was able to save a
client an additional $130 because she had taken a
Carnival cruise as a young girl and her parents
signed her up. I don't know who was happier to
discover the savings-Pat or the client!

Ok, here's this week's cruise news??¦

Big demand for its first-ever "Fun Ship Reunion
Cruises" has prompted Carnival Cruise Lines to
add two more of the popular voyages, which
feature special pricing and a host of value-added
goodies, like free Carnival logo items and
shipboard discounts. The new "Reunion Cruises"
include a seven-day "exotic" eastern Caribbean
voyage from Miami on the 2,052-passenger smoke-
free Paradise Sept. 28, 2003, and a seven-day
western Caribbean cruise from New Orleans on the
new 2,974-passenger Carnival Conquest Oct. 19,
2003. Prices for the Paradise cruise, which calls
at Nassau, Casa de Campo and St.Thomas, begin at
$479 per person, while rates for the Carnival
Conquest voyage, featuring Montego Bay, Grand
Cayman and Cozumel, start at $599 per person.
"Fun Ship Reunion Cruise" participants receive a
booklet with $300 worth of coupons for on-board
merchandise and discounts, including free beach
towels, tote bags and photos, complimentary wine
with dinner, casino tokens, and reduced-rate spa
treatments and shore excursions. Carnival is
still accepting reservations on the previously
announced seven-day Caribbean "Reunion Cruise"
aboard Carnival Triumph departing Miami May 10,
with prices beginning at $599 per person. An
eight-day "exotic" southern Caribbean "Reunion
Cruise" from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., aboard
Carnival Legend will depart Dec. 7, 2003.
Bookings for the two new "Reunion Cruises" must
be made by March 15, 2003. Call Pat for details
at 1-866-424-1090 or e-mail him at

Celebrity Cruises has canceled an additional
sailing on Infinity scheduled to sail February 23,
2003 because repairs will take longer than
estimated on the propulsion equipment. Infinity
is expected to resume service March 9. As we
reported last week, two sailings on Infinity Feb.
2 and Feb. 13 were cancelled for repairs. A
January 19 cruise was shortened. The ship is in a
dry-dock facility in Newport News, Va.

Guests holding a booking on the canceled sailings
receive a full refund for their cruise, plus a
voucher for a 50-percent discount on any
Celebrity cruise of 14 nights or less, departing
on or before April 1, 2004-a handsome
compensation plan!

Inspectors at the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention didn't waste much time reinspecting
Cunard's QE2. The ship was checked out in
Honolulu and passed with a 92.  Just three weeks
ago, Cunard's flagship received an 85, one point
below passing, thanks to reports of mold in
icemakers and cockroaches in a kitchen. Ewwww.

Windstar's Wind Song, which suffered a major
engine room fire on December 1, has been declared
a "total loss" and was sunk in French Polynesian
waters last week. The ship sank to the bottom at
a depth of 9,843 feet. Parent company Holland
America says it took the action to scuttle Wind
Song with the approval of French Polynesian
environmental officials. Wind Song was built in
1987. Wind Star, which is replacing Wind Song as
the company's year-round ship sailing French
Polynesian itineraries, arrived as scheduled and
has departed on its first cruise from Papeete.

More trouble in paradise. Norwegian Star is
reporting a malfunction in one of the
transformers that powers its Azipods. As a result,
the ship will skip the scheduled call at Fanning
Island (the required foreign port due to U.S.
cabotage laws). The ship will operate on just one
of its two Azipods which basically just slows it
down. An NCL spokeswoman says that parts are
being flown to Hilo and repairs will take place
during that port-of-call. No delays are expected.
The spokeswoman was unsure if Norwegian Cruise
Lines would be fined by the U.S. government for
missing the foreign port.

The Grandeur of the Seas has been named the
official ship of the 200th Anniversary of the
Louisiana Purchase-or some such thing. Whatever
it is, it's cause for celebration, so for all the
Grandeurs sailings from New Orleans, the spirit
of that great city travels along. There's a Mardi
Gras celebration one night under the stars. There'
s New Orleans-style entertainment, and there are
Cajun and Creole touches to the Grandeur's menu,
too. There are New Orleans style drinks at the
bars, like Hurricanes and Mint Juleps. Royal
Caribbean offers 1- and 2-night hotel packages
before or after the cruise if  you're interested-
a delightful chance to extend your vacation. If
you love New Orleans like I do, this could be the
perfect cruise for you! The itineraries are
Western Caribbean, and Pat says that the prices
are excellent values.

Speaking of values, there isn't much left for
spring break, but there are excellent prices
available now for summer, even for Alaska-if you
can live without a balcony. And it's not too
early to think about Thanksgiving getaways with
your family (or ours!) or a holiday cruise for
the family.

Where else can you get luxurious surroundings,
someone to clean your room, fantastic meals,
excellent entertainment, and a view from your
window that changes daily??-All at one remarkably
low price? But, why am I telling you? You're
cruise people. You know!

Until next week, may there be roses in your
stateroom and chocolates on your pillow. (or a
nice pot of hyacinths. Hint. Hint.)

Teri
