Greetings, Cruise Fans, There's only time for a short and sweet 7 Seas Cruise Newsletter tonight. I have too much " homework" from the office and an additional freelance commitment. And we're moving to another house here in Boca Raton. I'll try to do better next week, but for this week, let me just tell you that Pat is running across some of the most amazing prices for cruises yet this year. Want a great getaway? Call Pat and find out what's available. These are 7 to 12-night cruises. Some holiday cruises available, too. Pat can help! 1-866-424- 1090 toll-free or send him an email at cruiseplanners7seascruises@msn.com And now, some cruise news??¦ At the October 7 presentation of the coveted annual Cond?© Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards, Celebrity Cruises again took top honors in the premium cruise category. According to results to be published in the November edition of Cond?© Nast Traveler, Celebrity ranked third - behind only luxury lines Crystal Cruises and Radisson Seven Seas - in the "Top 25 Cruise Lines: Large Ship Lines" poll. Subscribers' responses resulted in Celebrity's rating of 85.8 out of 100, up from last year's score of 82.9. Celebrity's total score has increased every year since 2001. The annual poll asks the magazine's subscribers to evaluate cruise lines on a combination of itineraries, crew/service, cabins/design, food/dining, activities/excursions and entertainment/events. Celebrity attributes its steady rise over the last four years to its extensive series of brand enhancements; a new category of accommodations introduced in 2003, "ConciergeClass," and an accelerating momentum building on this year's launches of "Celebrity Xpeditions" and the line's exclusive partnership with Cirque du Soleil. For the sixth consecutive year, Crystal Cruises has won Cond?© Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice award for the "Best Large-Ship Line. " As in past years, the luxury line scored more than 10 points ahead of its category's second-place winner, and is the only large-ship line, and only one of two cruise lines in either the large- or small-ship category, to place in the Top 100 list of worldwide travel opportunities (destinations, hotels, spas, resorts, etc.). In August, Crystal Cruises also won the industry's other top award for 2001 as "World's Best Large-Ship Cruise Line" voted by the readers of Travel + Leisure magazine. The Cond?© Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards represent the culmination of an extensive poll of subscriber travel preferences. Large-ship line ( vessels carrying 425 or more passengers) scores are percentages based on the "excellent" and "very good" votes from the subscribers in the categories of crew/service, food, cabins, entertainment, activities, and destinations/itineraries. Other awards recognized these special accomplishments: Itineraries -- Small ship Clipper Cruise Line had the highest score for itineraries at 95.6. Clipper' s small ships are able to go to more adventurous locations including, Brazil, Iceland, and Papua New Guinea. Radisson Seven Seas, Seabourn, Silversea, Windstar, and Viking River Cruises also received itinerary scores higher than 90 percent. Each of these lines has small ships and diverse, exotic itineraries. Cabins -- Silversea Cruises received the highest score for cabins at 95. 6. Its suites are as luxurious as most fine hotels. The cabins on Radisson Seven Seas, Seabourn and Disney also received scores higher than 90 percent. Service --SeaDream Yacht Club scored a perfect 100 for service. Eight other cruise lines scored above 90 percent, including Crystal, Radisson Seven Seas, Seabourn, Silversea, Oberoi Nile Cruises, Windstar, Clipper and Viking River Cruises. Food -- SeaDream Yacht Club received the highest score for food, with 97.1 percent of respondents giving the small ship cruise line a very good or excellent. Other cruise lines scoring above 90 percent for food were Crystal, Radisson Seven Seas, Seabourn and Silversea. Activities -- None of these twelve excellent cruise lines scored above 90 percent for the activities. However, all of the lines scored above 70 percent, and Clipper, Crystal, Disney, Viking and Radisson all scored above 85 percent. Meanwhile, Carnival Cruise Lines was the big winner in Porthole Magazine's "Readers Choice" awards, taking top honors in 11 different categories - the most of any cruise line for the sixth consecutive year. Since the awards were established in 1999, Carnival has earned 61 " Readers Choice" awards - more than any other cruise line. Porthole's " Readers Choice" awards are based on write-in and e- mail surveys from thousands of the publication's readers. Carnival's 2004 awards include: Best Value for the Money Line, Best Cabin Service, Best Alternative Dining Room Cuisine, Best Children's Programs, Best Entertainment, Best Overall Facilities for Physically Challenged Passengers, Most Spacious Average Cabin, Best Short- Duration Cruise, Best Onboard Activities, Best Disco and Best Party Ship. That's it for now! Until next time, smooth sailing. And give Pat a call! Teri |
