Subject: 7 Seas Cruise News - April04, 2005

Greetings, Cruise Fans,

Welcome to another edition of the 7 Seas Cruise
News. Thanks for your patience with my formatting
nightmares from last week. I'm trying something
different this week. We'll see what happens??¦

This week, Pat has asked me to remind you that he
can still find some excellent prices for this
spring. So, let's go cruising!  And remember, when
you get a price from us, it is THE price -complete
with taxes and port charges. And there are no
booking fees, cancellation fees or any other silly
fees or charges. With Pat, bless him, you get a
discounted price and it's complete! Give Pat a call
at 1-866-424-1090. The number is now good all over
the U.S., Canada and virtually everywhere else! You
can also reach Pat by email at
cruiseplanners7seascruises@msn.com and you are
always welcome at the website, www.7seascruises.com.
The website prices are not usually the correct ones
(Pat can almost always beat that price), but it is
a good place to start.

And now, a little cruise news??¦

Time was, when watching the giant steamboats race
up the Mississippi was a pastime enjoyed from the
front porches of small river towns. Passengers on
the Delta Queen and Mississippi Queen will once
again relive The Great Steamboat Race of 1870 as
the steamboats line up in New Orleans on June 24,
2005 for an 11-night cruise to St. Louis, arriving
in time for the festivities of Fair St. Louis on
the 4th of July. The Delta Queen Steamboat Company (
a Delaware North Company) will re-create the spirit
of the first steamboat competition, held in 1870
between the Steamboats Natchez and Rob't E. Lee.
The two boats will engage in a series of speed
races between New Orleans and St. Louis, vying for
the famed "Golden Antlers." Not to be left out, the
passengers will compete in a series of events for
the Commodore's Cup, awarded to the boat with the
most points. Passengers and crew will compete in a
series of events in river towns along the way, such
as the famous Floozie Contest, Captain Foghorn's
Floating Follies, Steamboatin' Olympics and the
Great Americana Banner Competition. Serving as
judges on the steamboats for all events will be
Creole chef, comedian and the Commissioner of
Tailgating Joe Cahn; and the "Last of the Riverboat
Gamblers" Bodine Balasco. Celebrity guests joining
us during the special Great Steamboat Race of 2005
will be Jan and Mickey Rooney, performing their "
Let's Put on a Show" for all passengers in Natchez.
The vacation ends in St. Louis when the two
steamboats race for the golden antlers, crossing
the finish line at the famous Gateway Arch on the
4th of July. Passengers will enjoy the spectacular
fireworks display from the decks of the steamboats
that evening. It's an exciting moment not to be
missed--a storybook ending to a journey that has
delighted travelers for more than a century, and
will continue to do so well into the future. Free
air and 50% off companion fare or 2-for-1 pricing
are available on select cabin categories, based on
space availability. Call Pat for details!

With the US dollar versus the euro, Americans
traveling on land-based vacations are spending
considerably more to visit Europe these days. A
better option for exploring Europe is to sail
aboard Windstar Cruises' 308-guest luxury motor
sailing yacht Wind Surf. Guests can explore the
Mediterranean, Adriatic and Aegean seas, on six to
eight-day cruises from Lisbon to Barcelona, Malaga
to Marseille, Rome to Malta, Malta to Venice and
more.  The Wind Surf's itineraries combine both
smaller, unique ports of call with favorites such
as Venice and Rome. Guests may find themselves
exploring Spanish Morocco in Ceuta, Spain; sipping
cappuccino in Sorrento; gambling in Monte Carlo;
shopping for hand-painted porcelain in Portimao,
Portugal; or visiting a fortress in Hvar, Croatia.
Itineraries aboard the Wind Surf may be combined to
make 14- or 21-day voyages with no repeating ports
of call. For example, guests may book back-to-back
sailings on June 5 from Rome to Malta and June 12
from Malta to Venice to create a 14-day grand
exploration of the Amalfi Coast and Adriatic Coast.
On the Wind Surf's May 15 cruise, guests may rub
shoulders with glitterati at the Cannes Film
Festival and thrill to the speed of the Formula One
race cars in the Grand Prix. This special itinerary
visits Portovenere, Italy before spending two
nights in Cannes for the glamorous Cannes Film
Festival and two nights in Monte Carlo that
coincide with the 2005 Grand Prix Race. The 8-day
voyage from Rome to Nice starts at $1,995 per
person, double occupancy. Combined with a 6-day
Nice-to-Nice cruise departing May 23, guests can
create a 14-day European exploration cruise along
the C??te D'Azur visiting Portofino, Italy; St.
Tropez, Marseille, Port-Vendres and Sanury-sur-Mer,
France. Rates for this special combination cruise
start at $2,895 per person, double occupancy.  (
Those are Windstar prices. Pat will discount!) For
a thoroughly relaxing cruise getaway to enjoy all
of the ship's amenities, guests can kick back
aboard the Wind Surf beginning November 13 for a 14-
day transatlantic crossing from Lisbon, Portugal to
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, with rates
starting at just $1,095 per person, double
occupancy.  Call Pat for discounts! I came upon
this packing list and I thought it was pretty
interesting. These are the things it is suggested
you bring along on your next cruise.  See what you
think. In your medicine kit, bring prescription
drugs and any other essential medications in your
carry-on bag. Plus, you might want ear plugs or "
ear planes" , a small first aid kit (band aids, Q-
tips, vaseline, dramamine, antibiotic cream,
bandages, anti-diarrheal medication, cortisone
cream, aspirin/tylenol/advil), germicidal hand
cleaner, handi-wipes (for cleaning hands when
ashore), hand lotion, rubbing alcohol or foot
lotion for soothing tired, hot feet, bug spray (not
for your cabin on the ship, but for those pesky
mosquitoes ashore), sun screen/sun block and lip
sunblock. In terms of electronics, it is suggested
you bring your plug adaptor and converter, cell
phone and charger, PDA and charger, laptop computer,
binoculars, film camera and manual, extra film (don'
t put undeveloped film in checked luggage),
disposable underwater camera - for snorkeling or
beach days, digital camera and manual, extra memory
cards for digital camera, batteries for digital
camera, battery charger, extension cord/power strip
with multiple plug-ins, walkman and tapes (for
walking on deck or on treadmill), small travel
alarm clock - battery operated, lighted dial clock
for cruise ship cabin, small flashlight, night
light, glasses, contacts, contact cleaner, extra
reading glasses, sunglasses, reading sunglasses,
guidebooks and other port of call information,
foreign language phrase book or dictionary, maps,
reading material - books to read while on the plane
or lounging by the pool, journal or notebook and
pen/pencil - for making notes to tell your friends
back home about your experiences, business cards
with email address to give out to new cruise
friends, home and email addresses of friends/
relatives back home - for sending postcards, emails,
or gifts, photo album. And under the heading of
miscellaneous, here are the suggestions: duct tape
or strapping tape, extra plastic cable-lock ties
for securing luggage for return trip (better than
locks, but one-time use only), extra luggage name
tags (in case yours are lost on the outbound trip),
zip loc bags of all sizes and garbage/laundry bags,
corkscrew (be sure to put in checked luggage),
Swiss Army knife or something similar with
screwdriver head, etc. (be sure to put in checked
luggage), small umbrella, collapsible travel pillow
for those long airplane flights, Crazy glue  (Don't
ask me what that's for!), playing cards, sports
gear (e.g. snorkeling gear , shoe horn for getting
those shoes back on your swollen fee, sewing kit
and scissors (pack in checked luggage) (those
scissors are great for clipping off the price tags
when you first wear all your new cruise clothes),
travel-sized Woolite, clothes pins, empty folding
tote bag - for souvenirs or the beach, hats/caps/
visors, insulated large coffee mugs  (This is Pat's
favorite item to bring from home-he fills his
insulated mug with iced tea and refills it about
five times during the average sea day!)

Ok. They are just suggestions. I'd say: sunscreen,
reading glasses and a really good book. But I'm
learning to travel light! If you have some favorite
things you take along, drop me a note. We can
always use some good packing hints and I will
cheerfully share them!

And that's about it this "birthday edition" of the
7 Seas Cruise News. (Pat's was Friday. Mine is
today!). Whether you have a birthday this week or
not, I hope you have a terrific week! Almost as
good as if you were sailing!

Teri
