Subject: 7 Seas Cruise News - April21, 2005

Greetings, Cruise Enthusiasts,

Is this overdue from last week? Or way ahead of
schedule for next week? I'm not quite sure ??¦ but
here it is!

To start with, let's talk about "the wave." Surely
everyone who loves cruising has heard about the 70-
foot wave that smacked into the Norwegian Dawn last
Friday night. While it must have been terrifying
for those onboard, no lives were lost and injuries
were minimal. Friends of yours and mine who are
already frightened at the prospect of a cruise (
yeah, I know, why??) will point to "the wave" and
say, "See? That's why you'll never get me on one of
those!" For the rest of us, however, the 70-foot
wave is proof that cruising is amazingly safe. It's
proof that cruise ships are built to take it. What
we did learn was you shouldn't sit out on your
balcony in stormy weather or hang out in a hot tub
on deck in bad weather. Happily, no one was doing
either of those things when the wave hit. Yes,
there were broken windows, but picture what a 70-
foot wave will do to a hotel and that ship looks
better than ever.  Ok. That's my take. I'd like to
hear what you think.

On a brighter note, Pat can now provide shipboard
credits for new individual NCL bookings by April 28
in every ship except the Pride of Aloha or Pride of
America. Pick your NCL cruise and if you select a 3-
, 4-, or 5-day cruise, you'll get $25 shipboard
credit for an inside cabin, $50 for an oceanview or
balcony cabin and $100 for a suite. For a 6- or 7-
day cruise, an inside cabin earns $50 shipboard
credits, $75 for ocean-view or balcony cabins and $
125 for a suite. On a longer cruise, earn $50 for
an inside cabin, $$125 for an ocean-view or balcony
booking and $150 for a suite. Combine the shipboard
credits with Pat's fantastic low discount fares for
Alaska and you can't hardly afford to stay home!
Seriously, Pat has excellent Alaska fares for NCL's
Norwegian Sun and Norwegian Star (both terrific
ships that we have sailed on and really liked. They
are sister ships to the Norwegian Dawn, too, so you
know they can take it!)  To learn more, give Pat a
call toll-free at 1-866-424-1090 or drop him an
email at cruiseplanners7seascruises@msn.com. You're
welcome at the website, too. Visit www.7seascruises.
com, but don't believe the prices. Pat can often do
better!

Now, some news??¦

From the Great Barrier Reef and cosmopolitan Sydney
to pastoral New Zealand and the exotic Orient,
Holland America Line now offers intriguing escapes
throughout the Pacific Rim aboard the 1,258-guest,
five-star ms Statendam. Cruises visit Australia,
New Zealand, the South Pacific, Japan, China, Korea
and Russia from November 2005 through May 2006 and
from September through December 2006. Holland
America comfort and the exotic Pacific! Sounds like
a great combination to me.

The beloved old NCL Norway will transfer to sister
company Star Cruises, where it will be used in a
new venture. Star is making arrangements to tow the
Norway to Port Klang, Malaysia, in the "near future,
" NCL said. Star did not disclose any specific
plans for the vessel. The Norway was damaged in a
boiler explosion in Miami in May 2003 and has been
laid up at the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Germany
since. NCL said the ship would not return to the
NCL fleet, and last month CEO Colin Veitch said NCL
had "done our bit in giving the ship the best
chance" of finding a new home.

Princess Cruises will debut the New Crown Princess
beginning Jun 14, 2006 sailing from New York. This
inaugural sailing season will feature nine-day
roundtrip voyages from New York to both the Eastern
and Western Caribbean and will include Princess'
return to Bermuda. Beginning June 14 and running
through October 18, 2006 Crown Princess will offer
10 sailings on an Eastern Caribbean itinerary with
calls at Bermuda (West End), San Juan, St. Thomas
and a new port of call for Princess, Grand Turk in
the Turks and Caicos Islands. In addition, the
lineup includes five sailings with a Western
Caribbean itinerary and stops at another new port
for Princess, Port Canaveral -- as well as Grand
Cayman, Ocho Rios and Grand Turk.

Regal Princess, which was built in 1991 and carries
1,690 passengers, will leave the Princess fleet and
transfer to Ocean Village, a sister company based
in the U.K., in November 2006. The transfer will
set Princess' cruises overall berth space back by
about 5%; Ocean Village's berth space, meanwhile,
will jump by 108%. The Regal Princess is one of the
oldest in the Princess fleet.

Royal Caribbean International is bringing its
outstanding entertainers to shore. Royal Caribbean
Productions, the cruise line's in-house production
company, is now available to perform at land-based
corporate events and private functions. To give
event planners a preview of the entertainment
options available, the company has launched a new
web site - www.royalcaribbeanproductions.com - that
also includes information on how aspiring dancers,
singers and comedians worldwide can audition to
join the company's ensemble.

The latest change in the banned items list for
airline passengers is cigarette lighters. This one
has a lot of people excited - including the Zippo
company and the manufacturer of other "brand name"
lighters. It's one thing to hand over your yellow
plastic Bic. It would be quite another to surrender
your sterling silver Zippo. Better to just leave it
at home! Here is the current list of banned and
acceptable items aboard aircraft:

Leave these at home:
Baseball bats
Bleach
Fireworks
Golf clubs (acceptable if checked in a proper carrier)
Ice picks
Knives (any length, except round-bladed or
butter knives)
Lighters
Mace/pepper spray
Saws
Scissors, metal with pointed tip
Screwdrivers
Ski poles
Starter pistols
Tools
Weapons

These are now okay to carry aboard:
Cigar cutters
Corkscrews
Eyeglass repair tools
Your knitting or crocheting including knitting needles
Matches (up to four packs, and not strike-anywhere matches)
Nail clippers
Nail files
Safety razors
Scissors, blunt-tipped
Toy weapons (if not realistic-looking)
Tweezers  (thank you!)
Umbrellas

For a full list, go to www.tsa.gov. Cruise ships
are slightly more liberal, allowing lighters, but
when in doubt, ask before you leave on vacation!

That's it for this edition. Wishing you a great
week!

Teri
