Happy New Year, Cruise Fans-

Welcome to the first issue of 7 Seas Cruise News

in sunny Florida - although we would have
preferred to have been with the granddaughters!
We had a visit from daughter #4 all the way from
Oregon which brightened the season considerably!

get back to work. Including Pat! He's ready and

And now, a touch of cruise news...

Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin will
be godmother to Holland America Line's new Vista-
class ship, the ms Noordam, in a ceremony
dedicating the ship in New York City on February
22, 2006. Matlin catapulted onto the big screen
in her debut film Children of a Lesser God (1986),
winning the Academy Award for Best Actress and a
Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama.
The Oscar-winning actress has since starred in 19
films and several television programs.  Among her
many television appearances are Emmy-nominated
roles on CBS' Picket Fences, NBC's Law & Order:
SVU, ABC's the Practice and NBC's Seinfeld.  She
has also guest starred on ABC's Desperate
Housewives, HBO's The Larry Sanders Show, the ABC
comedy Spin City, NBC's ER, and CBS' Judging Amy.
She currently stars opposite Martin Sheen as
pollster Joey Lucas on NBC's Emmy Award-winning
series "The West Wing." In 2002, she published a
novel for children entitled "Deaf Child Crossing."
Two sequels are scheduled for 2006 and 2007 by
Simon and Shuster.

Holland America's ms Noordam is the fourth in a
series of 81,769-ton Vista class ships.  The ms
Noordam will showcase all the service and product
enhancements of the line's $225 million Signature
of Excellence initiative, including the addition
of an Explorations Caf?© - a cyber-coffee house
powered by The New York Times - expanded Pinnacle
Grill, and a new Pinnacle Bar. Other major
Signature of Excellence attributes will include
the innovative Culinary Arts Center presented by
Food & Wine Magazine, where culinary experts
provide cooking demonstrations and intimate
classes in the new state-of-the-art onboard show
kitchen; an expanded Greenhouse Spa and Salon;
and upgraded youth facility that includes the
teens-only Loft.  Also new - and unique to the
Noordam - will be the Pinnacle Grill Bar,
offering a wide selection of worldwide wines.
Special amenities add to the ambience of the
Noordam and feature plush Euro-top Mariner Beds,
deluxe waffle/terry cloth robes, flat panel TVs,
dvd players, make-up mirrors with halo lighting,
massage shower heads, professional hair dryers,
and complimentary fruit basket.  The Noordam will
sail on its maiden cruising season from homeport
New York City to the Southern and Eastern
Caribbean.   Eleven Caribbean sailings will
depart New York, beginning on February 22, 2006.

Make-up mirrors!  Imagine actually seeing what
your make-up looks like before you go down to
dinner! I can't count the number of times I've
carried a mirror out to the window or balcony to
see just how orange or pink I had turned myself!
And then there is the problem of inside cabins.
How can you possibly tell how you look in that
dreadful bathroom mirror? So, hats off to you,
Holland America!

Carnival announced it has reached an agreement
with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri for the
construction of four new cruise ships worth more
than $2 billion.  The agreement calls for the
construction of four new vessels, one each for
Holland America Line, Carnival Cruise Lines,
Princess Cruises and Costa Crociere, along with
options for two additional vessels, one each for
Carnival Cruise Lines and Holland America Line.
The four new ships will add a collective 11,756
lower berths to the cruise operator's fleet.  Two
of the orders have been placed in U.S. dollars
and two others are in euros.

These new ships and options include:

A 2, 044-passenger ship which will be the largest
ever constructed for North American premium
operator Holland America Line. With an estimated
all-in cost of $450 million, the 86,000-ton
Panamax vessel will be built at Fincantieri's
Marghera shipyard. The ship is expected to enter
service in summer 2008.  There is also an option
for a sister ship scheduled to debut in spring
2010.

A 3,100-passenger ship for North American premium
brand Princess Cruises set to debut in fall 2008.
A sister to the Emerald Princess, the 116,000-ton
vessel will be built at Fincantieri's Monfalcone
shipyard at an approximate all-in cost of $570
million.

A 3,608-passenger cruise ship for Carnival Cruise
Lines representing the largest vessel ever
constructed for the contemporary North American
operator. The 130,000-ton vessel, to be built at
Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard at an estimated
all-in cost of 560 million Euros, is expected to
enter service in fall 2009. There is also an
option for a sister ship scheduled to enter
service in summer 2010.

A 3,004-passenger ship for Genoa, Italy-based
Costa Crociere expected to debut in summer 2009.
A sister ship to the Costa Concordia, the 112,000-
ton vessel will have an estimated all-in cost of
485 million Euros and will be built at
Fincantieri's Sestri shipyard.

It's a light week for news, but a great week for
cruise bargains! So, give it some thought and
give us a call!  And to each of our readers - and
your families - our very best wishes for a safe
and happy 2006! May we all cruise this year -
more than once!

Until next week, smooth sailing.
Teri
