Greetings, Cruise Fans, Welcome to the July 2 edition of the 7 Seas Cruise News. Pat and I are enjoying a very quiet holiday weekend before the arrival of daughter number two and granddaughter Emily next Friday. Emily's dad, a soon-to-be Major in the USArmy Reserve is away in Kuwait just now, so the girls are coming down to Florida to visit the Magic Kingdom, go to the beach, and brave the wilds of Lion Country Safari. Fun, huh? Pat is excited about some great sale prices Carnival is offering for previous guests just now. Excellent fares for cruises from September until the holidays-with some nice upgrades thrown in! Royal Caribbean has countered with great senior fares and special rates for Florida residents. So if you qualify for any of these, call Pat in the next few days and plan a great fall getaway! You can reach him at 1-866-424-1090 most any time. Or drop him an email at cruiseplanners7seascruises@ msn.com. Of course, you are always welcome to browse at www.7seascruises.com. Please note, however, Pat can usually beat the prices you see at the website!! So call or write for a great price!! And now, just a bit of cruise news... Think about it. Foie gras terrine with ginger fig compote, morel risotto with pumpkin and robiola cheese, lobster tail marinated in white myrtle, white chocolate semifreddo with pistachio coulis. No, you're not dreaming! You're onboard MSC Musica, the newest MSC Cruises flagship, where you can enjoy not only a journey through wonderful, uncontaminated landscapes but also a voyage of discovery, sampling unique flavors and offering you a full and wonderfully enjoyable culinary experience. MSC Musica offers a full range of culinary products, designed to satisfy the most demanding palates and to meet the requirements of international guests. Why not experience a truly special moment and let yourself go, enjoying the unusual and original flavors in MSC Musica's exclusive ? la carte restaurants? The panoramic aft restaurant "Il Giardino" will entice you with its delicious recipes, which change at every new port visited, offering a journey within a journey through the flavors and aromas of some of the most extraordinary cuisines. For an exotic touch, visit the Kaito Sushi Bar. Here, multi-ethnic ambiance creates a welcoming and informal atmosphere, as found in a far away land. The perfect dinner deserves an unforgettable toast and, in fact, true wine connoisseurs will revel in the selection of more than 70 top wines available in the Wine Tasting Bar. Furthermore, those who wish may choose to be advised by an expert sommelier in the selection of the best wines to pair with typical local dishes. But that's not all! At the onboard restaurants and buffet bar you will discover a new recipe every day, encompassing Italian regional dishes and international delicacies. And when it comes to dessert, you'll find it hard to resist all our treats. Not to mention the "pasta station," where our Chef ventures on exciting preparation of one of the most enviable Italian dishes! And what about an aperitif? At the Martini Bar, of course! Needless to say, we haven't forgotten the children. For them, MSC Musica has Pollicino, a menu purposely designed to keep the kids happy. Cruises are synonymous with relaxation and well- being, and onboard MSC Musica you will find culinary options specifically geared for healthy eating: shakes, salads, crudit?es and fruit await you at the SPA bar, to keep you in shape without sacrificing the flavor! Vegetarians will also find special menus suitable for their dietary requirements. Legendary actress Sophia Loren named the new MSC Cruises' 2550-passenger MSC Musica in Venice, Italy on June 29. The MSC Musica is the eighth ship in the MSC fleet. This Italian line started with only two ships in 2002, but has grown rapidly, with at least three more ships coming in the next three years. The MSC Musica has all the latest cruise ship features, including 22,500 square feet of public space, a 13,000-square-foot spa/beauty facility, three pools, four Jacuzzis, fitness center, 7,000-square-foot casino, Cigar Bar, Wine Tasting Bar, Art Gallery, a 1,200-seat theater, Music Hall, Conference Hall, Panoramic Disco and four restaurants (including a Sushi Bar) offering international and traditional Italian cuisine. In the central foyer, which features a waterfall and three bridges, MSC Musica passengers can enjoy piano music while seated on transparent flooring suspended over the water. Meanwhile at Carnival, with the installation of strategically located Wi-Fi "hot spots," guests sailing on Carnival can now access Web sites and send e-mails via any wireless-equipped laptop computer from virtually anywhere aboard ship, including all lounges, bars, pool areas, open decks, dining venues and suite accommodations. The project is roughly 75 percent complete with the balance of the fleet expected to be completed by year's end. Wi-Fi technology expands Carnival' s existing shipboard wireless Internet capabilities as guests can use wireless-equipped laptop computers in select areas in and around the Internet cafes fleetwide. Carnival Valor and Carnival Liberty also feature "100 percent bow to stern" wireless access. The wireless technology can be added, if needed, into any laptop simply by installing a non-intrusive "radio card" in the computer's PC card slot. Guests are welcome to bring their own computer or rent a laptop through the ships' Internet cafes for a nominal fee. Guests can either use their own Web-based e-mail address or obtain a temporary account while aboard ship. In addition to the wireless Internet technology, all Carnival ships offer Internet cafes featuring flat-panel workstations available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Both the wireless Internet and Internet caf?s cost 75 cents per minute to surf the Web and review e- mails. There is also a one-time activation fee of $3.95. Minutes can also be purchased in bulk at a discount. This marks the latest high-tech initiative aboard the "Fun Ships" designed to enhance guests' cruise experience. Just last week, Carnival and Wireless Maritime Services, a joint venture of Cingular Wireless and Maritime Telecommunications Network, announced that it would offer fleetwide cell phone service to guests sailing aboard the "Fun Ships" in any cruising region. "'Today's Carnival' is all about choice and we will continue to explore new technologies in our never-ending pursuit of exceeding the expectations of our guests," Dickinson said. Carnival currently has three new ships on order - the 110,000-ton Carnival Freedom, scheduled for delivery in February 2007, the 112, 000-ton Carnival Splendor, slated to enter service in fall 2008, and an as-yet-unnamed 130, 000-ton SuperLiner - to be the largest "Fun Ship" ever constructed - set to debut in fall 2009. That's it for the edition. Here's to a very happy and safe 4th of July for all of us-here and abroad. And until the next newsletter, smooth sailing, everyone! Teri |
