Dear 46th Ward Democrat,
We in the 46th Ward have two great opportunities coming up to
impact national policy.
Our Illinois Senators Dick Durbin and Barack Obama are pushing
new legislation which would help block funds from the perpetrators
of the genocide in Darfur where over 400,000 people have died.
In addition, local State Representative Greg Harris is helping
to push similar state legislation.
Over 1,000 people are expected to attend a press conference in support of these new proposed laws:
WHERE: Federal Plaza, 230 South Dearborn
WHEN: Sunday, April 29th, 6:30PM
Join Members of Congress, state legislators, faith and human
rights leaders and the world famous Soul Children of Chicago
choir in helping Illinois fight genocide. A candlelight vigil
will follow the press conference.
