Local News

Storm damage
Our 46th Ward Democrats office on 4084 N. Broadway is temporarily without power thanks to the recent storms. But after 6 years of the Bush Administration, we're used to a little darkness, right? We'll let you know when the office is again operational. In the meantime, it's full steam ahead with petition drives, community outreach, and helping the Democratic Party!

Get Barack Obama and local Democrats on the ballot
We need volunteers to gather signatures on petitions to put Barack Obama – and other local Democrats - on the ballot for the Illinois primary. Any citizen, 18 years or older, can help gather signatures.

If you would like petitions delivered to you, or to arrange a pick up time, please e-mail Sean Tenner at Sean@The46thWard.org or call 202-549-6127. Petitions are available for presidential candidate Barack Obama, 46th Ward Democratic Committeeman Tom Sharpe, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, Congressman Rahm Emanuel, State Senator John Cullerton, State Representative Sara Feigenholtz and State Representative Greg Harris.

We will be happy to explain the process to you. It is very important that we get a sufficient number of signatures to place our candidates on the ballot.

Upcoming Barack Obama Iowa trips and 46th Ward barbecue
We have two more weekend dates set for our trips to campaign for Barack Obama in Iowa. We will be going out on September 22nd and 23rd, and again on October 27th and 28th. Please let Sean know if you can make either. We will be leaving at 8 AM from the 46th Ward Democrats office on Saturday, September 22nd and Saturday, October 27th. We will return by early evening on the Sunday afterwards.

Additionally, there will be a free barbecue for local Obama supporters at the home of Marcus Powell - 3923 N. Pine Grove #3S - at 2 PM on Saturday, September 8th. You'll be able to mingle with other Democrats, talk politics and learn about ways to continue supporting Barack's campaign.

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky neighborhood meeting on September 9th
You’re invited!

Congresswoman Schakowsky recently returned from Iraq, and is updating neighborhood residents about her efforts to end the war, new laws passed by Congress and other developments on Capitol Hill. You will also be able to ask Congresswoman Schakowsky questions about the issues that concern you and learn how to volunteer for Jan and other Democratic candidates!

Sunday, September 9th, 2007
1:00 – 2:30 PM
4300 N. Marine Drive – Chicago, IL 60613

Enter the building on Marine Drive and tell the front desk you are attending the event. Refreshments will be served. Nominating petitions will be available for Congresswoman Schakowsky and other Democrats.

This event is being organized by Tom Sharpe, 46th Ward Democratic Committeeman.

From The Mouth of the GOP

"Democrats lead in all the polls by at least ten points, except one...Fox News. That is with a margin of error of plus or minus the facts."

Faux-Republican Stephen Colbert on The Colbert Report.

I was going to use the Larry Craig "naughty boy" quote, but that was just too easy.
