SPOTLIGHT ON...Eileen Fulton (Lisa
Chadwyn, As the World Turns) www.eileenfulton.com
Eileen is in her 46th year, portraying
Lisa, which she originated in May 1960, and temporarily brought to primetime
in the 1965 spin-off Our Private World. In 1998, Eileen was inducted
into the Soap Opera Hall of Fame by Soap Opera Weekly. In 2004, she was
honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences.
Eileen is no stranger to the stage --
having appeared in the Broadway productions of Who's Afraid of Virginia
Woolf? Off-Broadway, she's starred in The Fantasticks, Abe
Lincoln in Illinois, Many Loves, Summer of the Seventeenth Doll
and Nite Club Confidential. Regional theater production appearances
include Plaza Suite, It Had to be You, The Owl and the
Pussycat, Goodbye, Charlie and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Eileen
also stars as the lead in the film Girl of the Night.
All her work in the theater has honed
her skills as a cabaret performer, providing her the opportunity to sing in
numerous top nightclubs around the country as well as starring in several
one-woman shows in New York. Not content to just sing and dance, Eileen has
perfected her writing skills. She has co-authored two autobiographies, How
My World Turns and As My World Still Turns; written six murder
mysteries, Take One for Murder, Death of a Golden Girl, Dying
for Stardom, Lights! Camera! Death!, A Setting for Murder
and Fatal Flashback; as well as a romance novel, Soap Opera.
Based on her incredible body of work,
it shouldn't be a surprise to learn Eileen majored in music with a minor in
dramatics at Greensboro College in North Carolina. Her professional debut was
in The Colony, annual drama presentation at Manteo, North Carolina.
Ready to take over the world, she moved to New York City in 1956 and studied
at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
Heartily, she gives back as well,
supporting UNICEF, the March of Dimes, Cerebral Palsy, the Lupus Foundation
and Martha's Table -- an organization in Washington D.C. that benefits poor
and homeless mothers and children. Not content to just support, Eileen created
a musical scholarship in her father's name at Brevard College in North
Carolina and fine arts scholarships in her name and in her mother's at
Greensboro College. In addition, Eileen is also an avowed women's rights
advocate, giving time and energy to numerous causes for the betterment of
women.
Eileen was born in Asheville, North
Carolina on September 13.
