Editor's Note

While this will hardly come as a surprise to most fans, it's still very disheartening, nonetheless. After an incredible 30 years, the talented and beloved Julia Barr is exiting All My Children. For several years now (four to be exact), fans have been clamoring for Brooke to get a real front-burner storyline to no avail. (Her last major storyline was the botched 2002 marriage to Edmund.) ABC offered to let her stay on a recurring basis and quite rightfully, Julia said no. In her own words, "I am so proud to have been a part of a show that was once a television icon." Both Brooke and Julia will be deeply missed.

SPOTLIGHT ON...Renee Elise Goldsberry (Evangeline Williamson, One Life to Live) www.reneeelisegoldsberry.com

From the moment that Renee graced the small-screen as Evangeline, the feisty defense attorney, in February 2003, she won the hearts of fans. The role was intended to be recurring, but Renee nabbed a contract role in two months.

Born in San Jose, California, she grew up in Houston and Detroit. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a bachelors degree in acting. Renee attended graduate school at the University of Southern California, receiving her masters in vocal jazz performance.

You may have been lucky enough to catch Renee as Nala in the Broadway production of Disney's The Lion King. Or even luckier to catch her on the national tour of Dreamgirls or hear her on the Armistad movie soundtrack. If not, you may recognize her from Ally McBeal, where she was the recurring on-camera singer.

Renee starred in the independent film All About You, for which she co-wrote over half of the soundtrack, including the title song. The film received the 2002 Grand Prize at both the Pan-African Film Festival and the Hollywood Black Film Festival. In 2003, it also won the Miami Film Festival.

As a singer, Renee has worked with Barry White, Patti Austin, Al Green, Rod Stewart, Yolanda Adams, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Brian McKnight, Faith Hill, Barry Manilow and Vonda Shepard. Renee has been honored with the Grand prize for the John Lennon Songwriting contest. Her first album, Everything but the Kitchen Sink, includes three Lennon award-winning songs.

Renee lives in New York City with her husband.
