Editor's Note

There's good news and bad news about Kelly Monaco's (Sam) status at General Hospital. At Super Soap Weekend, the actress announced that she and the show had reached a new agreement. The gist of it is Kelly has landed a primetime gig but is staying on GH. If her primetime series gets picked up, she'll go. If it doesn't, she'll stay. Remember, Kelly was on the first series of the immensely popular, Dancing with the Stars, which raised her profile ten-fold.

In other news, Bold & the Beautiful's Darlene Conley (Sally) is recovering from her recent surgery for stomach cancer. Currently, Darlene is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. Don't worry, though, her doctors are expecting a full recovery. Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery. If you'd like to send her a personal note, send her one c/o The Bold & the Beautiful, 7800 Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90036.

Finally, if you have an ABC soap lover and are looking for an appropriate gift, you could pick up the CD, A Holiday Affair, with appearances by Susan Lucci (Erica, All My Children), Kathy Brier (Marcie, One Life to Live), Renee Elise Goldsberry (Evangeline, OLTL), Kristen Alderson (Starr, OLTL), Jacob Young (JR, AMC), Eden Riegel (Bianca, AMC), Kassie DePaiva (Blair, OLTL) and many more. The CD is available at music stores nationwide, or visit www.abc.com/daytime and look for the ad (or under the shop section). Or, if you're a fan of Renee Elise Goldsberry, you can pick up her debut solo LP, Beautiful at her website www.reneeelisegoldsberry.com.

     INS

All My Children For three episodes starting January 3, Kelli O'Hara will appear as Leslie, who is scheduled to comfort Bianca during a difficult time. Major spoiler alert: When the character Zarf (played by Jeffrey Carlson, right) reappears November 29, the character will be revealed to be a transgender person. The character is scheduled to develop an attraction to Bianca. (Transgender applies to a person's gender identity not matching to their biological assignment.) In this instance, his attraction to Bianca will cause the biologically-born male Zarf to feel he should have been born female; to Zarf, he identifies himself as female. It should also be noted that this character is a daytime first.

General Hospital They had Luke and Laura return for November Sweeps and their 25th anniversary, so for February Sweeps, they'll have Kin Shriner returning as Scott

Guiding Light Kate Levy will appear as Olivia's mother November 29. Eddie McGee (winner of the first season of Big Brother) airs as Hal December 1.

One Life to Live Chris Beetem (Jordan, As the World Turns/Nikolas, General Hospital) will begin in February as Tate, an ex-ballplayer scheduled to interact with Adriana, Rex, Starr and Cole. Don't be surprised to see Hunt Block (Craig, As the World Turns) appear as mystery man Miles, who has ties to a major character. Hunt's role hasn't been announced yet, but this isn't the first time I've heard about it.

Passions Jennifer Rhodes will appear December 4 as a Harmony couple checks into her bed and breakfast.

OUTS

As the World Turns Spencer Grammer (Lucy, Kelsey Grammer's daughter) is apparently leaving at the end of the year. Details haven't been released -- yet.

Days of Our Lives Get ready for a shocker. Fan favorite Renee Jones (Lexie) has been let go. The reason is being attributed to the Soap Land Budget Crunch and possibly the fact that the show has a new head writer. What makes this move particularly shocking is Lexie's on-screen family, the DiMeras, are getting more airtime. Her final airdate hasn't been revealed.

One Life to Live For four shows beginning January 10, the role of Michael McBain, will be temporarily recast. Robert Harte will take the place of Nataniel Marston.

Passions Liza Huber (Gwen) begins her maternity leave December 18. There is no recast planned; Gwen will disappear until Liza goes back.

THIS WEEK

All My Children Babe tries to get through to JR. Zach fears a murder has been committed.

As the World Turns Will learns Gwen has been keeping a secret. Carly can't escape her crime.

Bold & the Beautiful Stephanie confronts a dark secret from her childhood. Brooke and Taylor begin to bond.

Days of Our Lives EJ makes Sami an offer. Claire goes missing. Max and Mimi continue to grow closer.

General Hospital Alcazar wants to silence Lulu for good. Skye tries to make a deal with Sonny. Nikolas and Emily's happiness may be short-lived.

Guiding Light Tammy believes she's made the biggest mistake of her life. Springfield meets Jonathan and Lizzie's baby.

One Life to Live Marty plays a crucial role in Spencer's trial. Viki questions Marty's motives. Todd sets out to even the score with Spencer.

Passions Tabitha's worst nightmare is realized. Whitney lashes out at Chad and Valerie.

Young & the Restless Abby witnesses an ugly confrontation. Victor hits paydirt.

SPOTLIGHT ON...Elena Goode (Jade Taylor, As the World Turns)

Elena joined As the World Turns in February 2006.

Elena is a native of New York City and graduated from the LaGuardia School of Performing Arts. She participated in many productions there including Misanthrope, The Heidi Chronicles and The Owl & The Pussycat. She is currently attending the Fashion Institute of Technology and will soon receive her Bachelor's degree.

If she seemed at all familiar, she did appear as the recurring Kerri on ATWT and as a day player on All My Children before this role. Elsewhere maybe you saw Elena on the HBO series Undefeated as Marie.

In her spare time, Elena enjoys thrift shopping, museum shopping and spending time outdoors. Her birthday is August 22.
