SPOTLIGHT ON...Frank Dicopoulos (Frank
Cooper, Guiding Light)
Frank debuted on Guiding Light in
September 1987.
Frank majored in psychology and
minored in art and drama at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Active in
football, basketball and lacrosse, he set a National Collegiate Athletic
Association Division III track record in high hurdles. For a while, he
contemplated a career as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports
medicine. To keep his grade point average up, it was necessary for him to
enroll in drama courses and from that moment, he was hooked.
After college, Frank moved to Texas
where he managed a tire store in Houston and worked as an auto mechanic.
Eventually he began posing for ads in print photography and started doing TV
commercials. In a nationwide talent search in Dallas, he became one of four
finalists (out of 770 candidates) to screen test for the Larry Wilcox
replacement role on the series Chips. He didn't get the role, but he
did get a small film part and won the lead in the MTV video documentary Wild
Rides. He hosted On The Move for ESPN and the Miss Teenage
America pageant in Dallas.
Frank moved to Los Angeles in 1984
and appeared in several primetime series, including The Tracey Ullman Show,
Silver Spoons, O'Hara, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, in
the daytime dramas Young & the Restless, General Hospital
and Capitol. He has also starred in several movies before joining Guiding
Light.
Frank, wife Teja Anderson
(actress/writer), son Jaden and daughter Olivia reside in New Jersey. Frank
serves as a national spokesperson for the American Cancer Society and is an
avid golfer. His birthday is January 3.
