SPOTLIGHT ON...Catherine Hickland (Lindsay
Rappaport, One Life to Live)
Catherine joined One Life to Live in
May 1998.
Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale,
Florida, Catherine is well-known to television audiences. Her first
professional gig was as the stewardess in an airline Fly Me ad
campaign. Since then, on daytime, she has starred as Tess on Loving and
The City; as Julie and Jenny on Capitol and as Dr. Courtney
Marshall on Texas. In primetime, Catherine has made appearances on Law
& Order, Knight Rider, Eight Is Enough, Vega$; in
the TV movies, The Seeding of Sara Burns and To Race the Wind
and in the feature films, The Last Married Couple in America and Millions.
After wrapping up her roles on Capitol,
Catherine moved to Rome for two years. Upon her return, she met All My
Children star Michael E. Knight (Tad Martin). They were married in June
1992.
In 1995, Catherine began her Broadway
career as Fantine in Les Miserables. That same year, she performed with
the symphony of Lyon in Lyon, France on New Year's Eve. In 1996, she staged
several sold-out performances of her cabaret Boys on the Side. She
released a CD, Sincerely Broadway, which featured songs from hit
musicals, including Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. In
1999, she introduced her new show, Once More with Feeling.
In 2001, Catherine launched her
cosmetics company, Cat Cosmetics (www.catcosmetics.com).
What was intended to be only an online venture has grown into a thriving
Madison Avenue business celebrated in numerous beauty and entertainment
magazines. In June 2002, Catherine took Cat Cosmetics to QVC and has also
appeared in Canada on their home shopping channel, TSC. Catherine sometimes is
the guest editor at Soap Opera Digest where she has a column called Product
Queen, a fan favorite, where she offers beauty tips and advice.
In June 2003, Catherine and friend
(and fellow co-star) Hillary B. Smith debuted their comedy show, A Couple
of Soap Chicks at the Brokerage in Bellmore, New York. The show is an
off-shoot of their friendship and work experiences with audience
participation.
Catherine is an animal lover who
often dedicates her time and efforts to animal organizations and causes.
