Editor's Note

After what could be called his most difficult year personally (being diagnosed with lung cancer and undergoing chemotherapy), One Life to Live's Phil Carey (Asa) was informed that the show wanted to drop him to recurring after his current contract expires. After 28 years, he quite rightly said no. "Phil Carey and Asa Buchanan have always been an important part of One Life to Live," a spokesperson announced. "At this time, Mr. Carey has decided not to accept the recent offer to appear on a recurring basis." His contract expires next month.
