Emmy-nominated Marj returned to Guiding
Light in December 2002, to her role of Alexandra. She first began in
September 1993 to March 1997, then returned briefly in 1998 until 1999.
After her second year at the
University of Kansas, Marj moved to New York to pursue a modeling career. With
her husband and two children, they then moved to San Francisco so she could
study improvisational comedy. They finally ended up in Los Angeles where she
began work on the TV pilot Peace in the Family, with Richard Dreyfuss.
She also became a founding member of the improv comedy group The Session,
again with Richard Dreyfuss and Rob Reiner. Marj performed on The Steve
Allen Summer Comedy Show, The Johnny Carson Show and other
talk programs.
Her other TV work includes Santa
Barbara, Capitol, Sons and Daughters, Studio 5B, Facts
of Life, Bret Maverick, Cliff Hangers and over 150 roles in
primetime including WKRP in Cincinnati, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,
In the Heat of the Night, Perfect Strangers, Murder, She
Wrote, Dallas and Star Trek. In TV mini-series, Daughters
of Privilege, Wheels and Fire in the Sky; in feature films MacArthur,
Breezy, Made in Heaven, Sweet November, Love Walked In
and more.
Marj is also an accomplished stage
actress performing in San Francisco and Los Angeles theaters. She is an avid
golfer, has served as the Kansas Film Commissioner from 1984 to 1998 and is
still active in the organization's efforts to bring the film world to Kansas.
Marj was born in Russell, Kansas and is the second of six children in an
Irish/Bohemian family.
Her birthday is February 20.
