SPOTLIGHT ON...Katherine Kelly
Lang (Brooke Forrester Malone, Bold & the Beautiful)
Katherine is one of the four
remaining original cast members, having originated the role of Brooke Logan,
whose life on the show has been a roller coaster of unrequited love since
1987.
She is one of three children in a
show business family. Her parents are Keith Wegeman, an Olympic long-jump
skier who went on to play television's Jolly Green Giant and Judith
Lang, a film, television and commercial actress. Her grandfather was Charles
Lang, a famed motion picture cinematographer.
Katherine graduated from Beverly
Hills High School where she concentrated more on becoming a jockey or training
for the Olympics than studying to be an actress. On the set of Skate Town
USA, producers cast her as the lead's girlfriend. She signed with an agent
and was soon appearing on Happy Days, Masquerade, Magnum P.I.
and several Last Precinct shows. She has appeared in the Showtime
miniseries Training Camp...First and Ten.
Her first daytime role was as
Gretchen on Young & the Restless. Katherine has also appeared in Discovery
Bay and the films The Nightstalker, Mr. Boogedy and the
Disney Channel's Til the End of The Night. She's starred in all of the
Beach Boys music videos epitomizing her as the modern California girl.
She has guest-starred in several
episodes of Lonesome Dove and in the original Showtime movie Flashframe.
Still in love with sports and the
outdoors, she spends weekends playing tennis, wind surfing, mountain bike
riding or horseback riding. She owns several horses and competes in 250-mile
and 50-mile cross-country endurance races. At the very special invitation of
the Sheik of Qatar, she placed third in the International Desert Marathon in
1996. Katherine competes throughout Southern California in races sponsored by
the American Federation of Endurance Racing. She jogs, takes ballet and jazz
dancing classes and studies voice. In her spare time, she pursues
international modeling and commercial assignments throughout Europe.
She resides in California with her
two sons, Jeremy and Julian, husband Alex D'Andrea and daughter Zoe Katrina.
