Editor's Note

After a few weeks of mostly "ins", the "outs" are making news this week. But good news for General Hospital fans, Robin Christopher is returning from maternity leave very soon.

Let's get to it! Karen

? ? ?  INS

As the World Turns The police chief (Bill Buell) appears September 14 and 15. Hippies Wyoming and Sky Dog (Chris Orf and T. Erik Hart) appear September 15 and 17. Dr. Walters (Oni Faida Lampley) is Will's psychiatrist September 16 and 17.

Days of Our Lives Billie (Julie Pinson) begins September 13. Colin (Justin Melvey) returns for a little while on October 13. Brandon (Matt Cedeno) returns October 18.

General Hospital Skye (Robin Christopher) returns September 20. Diego (Ignacio Serricchio) begins October 1.

Passions Young Julian (Beau Winick) appears September 24.

Young & the Restless Dr. Abel (Brad Maule) counsels Brittany and Bobby October 6.

OUTS

All My Children Liza (Marcy Walker) takes Colby on the lam September 28. The show is still hoping that Walker will stay on a recurring basis.

One Life to Live Three months into her 6-month run, Angelina (Saundra Santiago) got killed. She will reappear a few more times -- as a ghost.

NEWS & RUMORS

Grant Aleksander (Phillip Spaulding) has been fired from Guiding Light. The actor has been with the show (as Phillip) since 1982. According to set-side sources, Aleksander has become difficult over the years, especially within the last six months. The last straw (according to sources) came when Aleksander called a halt to production, demanding a rewrite when he thought his character would see through Harley's disguise. The show complied but it didn't sit well with executives.

Sean Kanan's (Deacon) contract is up for renewal at the Bold & the Beautiful. The actor briefly disappeared earlier this year, prompting rumors that he was out; but he came back. Maybe lightening will strike twice...

Eileen Fulton (Lisa on As the World Turns) has been stuck in the hospital with a blood clot in her leg. The show is being forced to recast the role as Lisa has important scenes coming up. Carmen Duncan will step in October 20 and 21 and might end up filming more scenes until Eileen is able to return.

YOU'RE NOT ALONE (Tell me what's going on with your favorite soap: karensnews2004@yahoo.ca)

While NBC was airing Olympic coverage, the draw for viewers at General Hospital was the one-week murder mystery. Unfortunately, it fizzled -- big time. Descriptions include, "a bad Scooby Doo episode", "my least favorite part of the lineup" and "just silly". Some viewers thought Days of Our Lives had jumped over to ABC. Well, you can't win them all.

There's some rumblings about wanting less "soap cliches": the presumed dead, kidnappings, paternity questions, amnesia and returning from the dead. "Real life is more dramatic than cut-and-paste cliche drama any day." The perfect example of this was the very real death of Anna Lee from General Hospital. It was more touching because the actress really had died. Think back over the [real] passing of other characters from your favorite soaps and you can't help but agree.

Poor Thomas on the Bold & the Beautiful; he's "mini-Ridge". Let's hope he gets a personality transplant. The last thing we need is two Ridge Forresters!
