NEWS & RUMORS
An All My Children stunner.
Hot on the heels of Eden Riegel and Elizabeth Hendrickson's departures, comes
word that John Callahan (Edmund) was fired. The show isn't confirming the
firing, but Edmund makes a dramatic exit at the end of the month. Is Maria
(Eva La Rue) next? No confirmation yet, but...a few weeks ago, La Rue appeared
in prime time on The George Lopez Show and...in a recent interview with
Soap Opera Weekly, she said that she wants to return to California.
While As the World Turns head
writer Hogan Sheffer is away on a 17-week sabbatical, Jean Passanante,
currently co-head writer, will fill in. Sheffer will return in May. Trent
Jones (former writer on Young & the Restless) and Leah Laiman (a
veteran soap writer) have both been named associate head writers.
And, Sean Kanan's (Deacon) status at
the Bold & the Beautiful is still uncertain. We did have a definite
answer, but now we don't. Kanan posted a message on his Web site, stating he
had opted for a recurring role, but he quickly pulled it. The show has no
comment. In other news, all the Kayla Ewell (Caitlin) fans can rest easy. She
is not leaving. The casting call for a Hispanic actress the same age is
to be a character playing with Caitlin, not to be Caitlin.
