Maurice was born to Nicaraguan and San Salvadorian parents in San Francisco. His killer good looks landed him modeling work during his 20s. Afterwards, he began appearing in local productions. He landed a role on All My Children (Nico Kelly). Two years later, after a move to L.A., he appeared in Lucy and Desi: Before the Laughter and Ruby. In 1993, he found a home at General Hospital.

Maurice lives in the Hollywood Hills with wife Paula and daughters Cailey Sofia and Cassidy Rose and son Joshua James. He enjoys the martial arts.
