SPOTLIGHT ON...Peter Bergman (Jack
Abbott, Young & the Restless)
Peter joined the show in October
1989. He has received 12 consecutive Daytime Emmy Award nominations for
Outstanding Lead Actor -- winning the award in 1991, 1992 and 2002. He also
received Soap Opera Digest Awards in 1992 and 1993. Peter has won 3 MVP Awards
from Soap Opera Update in 1991, 1992 and 1994.
Peter was born in Guantanamo Bay,
Cuba. As his father was in the Navy, Peter moved nine times before reaching
grade 8. After graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New
York, he began landing roles in theater productions and TV commercials. In
1979, he landed the role of Dr. Cliff Warner on All My Children, his
home for ten years. He left the show to play Jack Abbott in 1989, where he has
remained ever since.
Other TV credits include Kojak,
as well as The Five Mrs. Buchanans and The Nanny. On PBS, he
starred in Pity the Poor Soldier and the made-for-TV movie Woman on
the Ledge. Other TV films include Fantasies, Money, Power,
Murder and Palomino.
His passions are classical and
contemporary music. Peter enjoys playing the piano. He actively works for
various charities and is a devoted father, serving on his childrens' school
board of directors, as well as coaching their sports teams. Peter and wife
Mariellen live in Los Angeles with their two children, Connor and Clare. His
birthday is June 11.
