Editor's Note

Soap storylines don't move at break neck speed, but behind the scenes, they sure do! Check out all the latest news and rumors.

? ? ? ? ?  INS

As the World Turns Maddie Coleman (Alexandra Chando) comes to town July 27.

General Hospital Allegra (Meg Bennett, wife of head writer Robert Guza Jr.) will be involved with Jason and Sam starting August 10. Another player thrown into the same mix on August 11, is Andrew (Justin Melvey).

Guiding Light Manny (Dean Alai) first airs July 27. Vince Russo (Michael Sabatino, husband of GL star Crystal Chappell) defends Alan this month.

Young & the Restless Luca (Marcus Lavoi) is a Vince henchman starting August 1. The Bold & the Beautiful's Eric (John McCook) appears August 11.

OUTS
General Hospital
Luke (Anthony Geary) will disappear for a little while but will return in September. Geary is taking his summer vacation. Rachel (Amy Grabow) "commits suicide" this week.

Young & the Restless Bobby (John Enos) exits August 10.

NEWS & RUMORS
At break neck speed, just after the ink dried on the reports that Days of Our Lives child star Christopher Gerse (Will) was being recast, came word that the show has reconsidered. They decided not to age the character and are keeping Gerse.

Despite the fact that storylines are coming fast and furious, Christel Khalil (Lily, Young & the Restless) has decided to chase her dream of being a movie star and will soon exit the show. Khalil feels bad about the split because her management gave the show the wrong impression. To ease the transition, she will stay on until they find a replacement. (Her contract ended July 15.)

In more Y&R news, when Melody Thomas Scott's Nikki gets roughed up by Vinny's henchmen, those bruises are real. The show did bring in a stunt double for Scott, but for the scenes where we had to see her face, she was indeed struggling. John Enos (Bobby) explains bumps and bruises are a common occurrence after scenes like these.

And from the Guiding Light casting department -- Alan-Michael is being recast...Phillip is returning. No, not Grant Aleksander -- a stand-in. We'll get to see the back of Phillip's head.
