Editor's Note

It's real-life break up week; two couples bit the dust. Check out "News & Rumors" for the latest.

? ? ? ?  INS

All My Children Erin Lavery (Connie Fletcher) begins August 8.

Days of Our Lives Look for Austin (Austin Peck) to begin mid-August now.

Guiding Light Alan-Michael (Michael Dempsey) has been recast. India (Mary Kay Adams), Phillip's ex, will briefly return in September.

One Life to Live Real-life psychic Travis Fox helps in the search for Natalie August 11.

Passions Mother Superior (Julia Duffy) begins -- for five episodes -- August 22.

Young & the Restless Alice (Tamara Clatterbuck) is Cassie's adoptive mother, August 18.

OUTS

All My Children Derek (William Christian) exits August 29; with a recast to follow. Christian lives in L.A. and the show tapes in New York. The show wanted to offer him a contract role, but the actor was unable to commit because he didn't want to uproot his family.

As the World Turns Craig (Hunt Block) begins to pay for his crimes starting August 11. Celia (Alyssa Diaz) exits August 10.

General Hospital Dr. Asher Thomas (Larry Poindexter) says goodbye August 9.

Guiding Light Nate (Ritchie Coster) should be gone before the end of the month.

Young & the Restless Lily (Christel Khalil) last airs September 2. No replacement has been named yet, so look for Lily to be off the radar temporarily.

NEWS & RUMORS

One day before their scheduled July 18 wedding, the Bold & the Beautiful's Lorenzo Lamas (Hector) and Playboy Playmate Barbara Moore called it off. There are allegations of Moore's infidelity at her bachelorette party.

General Hospital's Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) and Natalia Livingston (Emily) have called it quits this week as well. At press time, the actors were consulting as to what they would say publicly about the breakup.

Former As the World Turns head writer Hogan Sheffer is returning to the soap -- as a breakdown writer. The show apparently approached Sheffer after he won his fourth Emmy last May. He agreed -- on one condition. He didn't want to be the head writer.

SPOTLIGHT ON...Beth Chamberlin (Beth Raines, Guiding Light)

Beth began her career on Guiding Light in September 1989 until February 1991. She returned in November 1997 and has remained ever since.

During her break from GL, she appeared on Columbo, Silk Stalkings and Days of Our Lives. In movies, look for her in The Right Way, The Big Picture and Best Shots. On stage, she starred in The Taming of the Shrew, Godspell, The Effect of Gamma Rays, Flowers for Algernon and You Can't Take It With You. If you think you've recognized her from a commercial, it's quite possible. Beth also has numerous national commercials under her belt.

Beth studied ballet with the American Ballet Theater. At New York University, she majored in dance/theater. In her spare time, she loves to dance (of course), go antiquing and to teach her husband, chiropractor Peter Roy, to ski. Beth has been married to Peter since July 1994. Her birthday is October 1.
